You would think so but Philly is weird about these things.
Philly really takes to certain out-dated elements in their media that they just don't want to let go of.
The teletype sound was not just a Philly thing, however. 1010 WINS, one of the two all-news stations in New York, had the teletype sound until recently. Now, the sound is gone, and it went quietly, without any mention from the media as far as I know.In the day where more and more things are losing their local flavor I kind of like those little things that scream "Philly".
I just wrote about 1010 WINS on the previous post. I have been listening to 1010 WINS on WNEW-HD3 for the clearest reception. I had forgotten about the possiblity that some of the anchors having been working remotely.1010 WINS in NYC still uses the teletype sound (although barely audible in the background) on announcers that are working from the studio. It's just audible enough to fill in the gaps when the announcer takes a brief pause between news stories. On announcers that are working remotely, there is no teletype sound.
Another silly adjustment. This is akin to changing the Action News theme.
Hmm, some background noise that most people don't pay attention to or even know what it's supposed to be being that important or notable? I couldn't disagree more.
Actually, some of us do notice. During the 1980s, WCBS, NYC's other all-news station, also had the teletype sound. Then, one day, I noticed that the teletype sound was removed from WCBS. Because I was accustomed to hearing the teletype sound on WCBS, I was quickly able to notice its absence. Therefore, I am sure that there are more than a few people who quickly noticed the absence of the teletype sound on KYW.Hmm, some background noise that most people don't pay attention to [...]

The ones Jim O’Brien used ?
The weather on there is much too serious now. It ended with Dave Roberts and that easy going nature . This guy Joseph looks like he’s practicing drama , or trying out for an acrobatic team. Gimme a break .
