KYW Heterodyne

In the Ridley Park area, there is an annoying heterodyne on the KYW signal. I'm hearing this on a Grundig radio and it makes the station difficult to listen to. The tone is there at 5:20 in the morning and still there at 2:20 in the afternoon.

Granted, in this area you have the Boeing facility, the airport and a low power AM giving info on the park area. But I did not have this problem before KYW went HD. The problem is not there on WDEL, which is loud and clear, or on WILM, which I believe is also HD.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Sounds like good transatlantic propagation tome. Denmark and Italy have powerful stations on 1062 kHz, in Kalundborg and Rome, respectively. In the rest of the world, the AM (medium wave)band is divided into channels 9 kHz wide as opposed to our 10 kHz spacing in North America. So I'm betting that is what it is. Used to hear the het strongly back in RI om 1060 at night.
