As of yesterday. I noticed that the weather forecast is now at :5 and :35 past the hour and they are getting more news stories in, than ever before. So far, I like the changes. Thoughts?

yep. Also they reduced the commercials to get more news in.

Wow, until I read it I didn't mean to post such a sarcastic message, I apologise. While on a tour of KYW back in July they pointed out that they were adding more commercials at the time and because it's a news station, it would go unoticed. Now it looks like somebody did.

I'm in Boston, and with a local 1060 (50 kW-D/2.5 kW-N), I can no longer hear KYW. However, does KYW do weather only twice an hour? Sister station WBZ here does weather on the 10s (six times an hour) although those six weather reports vary a lot in length and content. WBZ radio's weather carries the AccuWeather brand, but lately, the AccuWeather voices are sometimes replaced by WBZ-TV weather voices. My big problem with WBZ's weather is that most of the reports are over too quickly. Even when I remind myself to keep my ears open for weather info I really need to hear, too often the weather report is over and done before I realize I wasn't listening closely enough. I hate when that happens!

Don't worry, its still every 5 minutes or so. The :05 and :35 post is very misleading. However, the new sounder is there and a great idea. I hate sitting through 22 minutes and never hearing the weather even once. The sounder turns on my ears and brain.

I noticed that during a portion of the day, they air 3 stories during the first segment of each newscast and then go to the weather at about :6 and 36 past. The break during the end of the newscasts is 2:00 to 3:00 minutes long in some cases.

I also don't like the fact that the break at 11 and 41 past has to be aired in most cases. Sometimes, the first segment might run 8-10 minutes long, instead of going right to traffic, close to 12 and 42 past, they go right to commercial for 1 minute, and then air the traffic at 13 and 43 past.

I rarely if ever listen to KYW, but I follow their Twitter for breaking news. So, I get their promos as well.

Do they really air a Reporters' Roundup show that regularly does a sports topic? Is that actually on the air (as opposed to online)? Every time I see a tweet about it, it's a sports topic.

They know that CBS owns not one, but two separate sports stations in the market, right? And that a third station they own airs 162 baseball games a year? I get updates at 15 and 45 or whatever, but are they really doing sports *talk* on KYW, and, if so, why?

Yes, Monday-Friday at 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM.

Without having enough humor to say "now, better late than never, traffic and transit on the twos", but rather, "now, this traffic and transit update".

I seem to remember at least one occasion when WCBS-AM aired traffic and wx at :x9 due to a situation like Julius described, and the anchor said "now, somewhat late (or words to that effect), traffic and weather together".

I noticed that here, too. KYW used to have Elliot Abrams in the morning, but all last week they had the CBS3 meteorologists.
