KYW Non-24 Hour Traffic Center

Has KYW cut/furloughed overnight traffic? I didn't hear any traffic reports in the early 11PM hour last night.

WBBM in Chicago had cut late evening/overnight traffic reports earlier this week, so I'm not sure if this is becoming an Entercom-wide thing.

That would seem a logical place to make cuts, given the overall reduction in traffic at all hours, even in major cities.

Given the lack of traffic at all, these reports are superfluous. They may only exist during the day because they're under contract.

Isn't traffic report talent usually coming from Ihearts Total Traffic division? But given that there have been furloughs and cuts everywhere in response to COVID-19 it may be a radio wide thing though.

I think the KYW traffic reports are part of Entercom's deal with WCAU-TV

Entercom Philadelphia Market Manager David Yadgaroff said the new partnership will provide the Philadelphia area “with the most immediate, accurate, and compelling news, weather, traffic, and entertainment reports.”

CBS/Entercom didn't renew their deal with Total Traffic some three years ago and have since built up their own in-house traffic team for their stations.

Today, I tuned to WINS New York at 4:00 a.m., and the anchor said that there would be no traffic report in another hour, since the station no longer has traffic reports in the overnight hours.

There's only one "overnight" hour remaining after 4 a.m. Are you sure you didn't mean to type 12:00 or 1:00? Doesn't make sense for WINS to skip only the 5 a.m. report.

I meant that there wouldn't be a traffic report until 5:00 a.m. I guess I should have written "for another hour."
