KYW reuses WCBS Golan Cipel sweeps story

The Phillyist, who is always slamming local TV stations caught KYW reusing sweeps story, and apparently just part of it.
They have links to both the KYW and WCBS versions of the Golan Cipel interview done by WCBS anchorman Jim Rosenfeld who appeared in both. Phillyist also has two comparison images from both stations.

I saw the story last night myself at 11 and it was ok and Rosenfeld did a much better job than Larry ever could.

I guess the brass at CBS figured that if Larry Mendte did it it wouldn't fly in New York, so we get treated to the New York version.

I can't think of another time this has happened before.

I don't know if KYW has aired WCBS packages before. I'm sure WPVI will use a WABC reporter for a big story in northern Noo Joisey or Noo Yawk.

In Providence, WJAR often runs packages from WHDH in their 11:00 newscast...using the WHDH reporter on their air. WJAR and WHDH are not sister stations (not the same ownership group), but they are both NBC affiliates.

I think KYW has aired WCBS stuff in the past.

And why wouldn't Larry fly in New York? He was a weekend anchor there in the 80s and he's a good interviewer.

It makes sense to use one reporter for the story. Why have every CBS-owned station do a separate package? It's about economics.

Yeah they have. I forget the story, but Tamsen Fadal, after she left KYW, did a story for WCBS, and then a few weeks later it aired on KYW. This was around a year ago.
