KYW's new jingles

They sound good, IMO. I'm listening at work and so far I've heard new stuff at :00/:30 (top/bottom), :07/:37 (five-day intro out of the spots), and :15/:45 (quarter-hour followed by a new sports intro). I'm assuming the :19/:49 thing is new too but I haven't noticed it. Traffic is the same but that bed sounds good and is relatively new anyway.

This updates the station's sound without totally changing its identity. And yeah, the teletype is alive and ticking.

I thought I'd wandered across a different station while scanning across the dial. The jingles sound OK. I'm so used to a harder-edged jingle package...1010/WINS, WCBS-AM, KFI, et al...that I almost thought these were from a station more like SUNNY or Smooth Jazz. They might work; need more time to get used to them, I suppose.

As for that darned teletype...#^%@#$&&^%! Read into that what you will. :)

They really should cut down on the "newstime"s though...Seems like every other sentence is "KYW newstime is..." I understand the importance of telling the time, but it seems like they do it too much.

I worked with someone who said he used to sit next to a co-worker who listened to KYW all day at work and made for a very long day, with time checks every minute, worse than clock watching...KYW newstime - 9:02..., 9:03..."aahh, only 6 hours and 57 minutes of timechecks left before I go home!!"

When we worked together later an older coworker sitting near him listened to the then-medical shows all day on WCAU. By the time my friend went home then, his feet hurt, back hurt...

As of this morning, the old top of the hour jingle is back.
KY did this last time they updated their jingle package: they mixed the old with the new for a while.
Anyone know what the reasoning is for doing this?
