KYXY HD meltdown

On Wednesday, the sideband digital carriers had been replaced by, for all practical purposes 2 blank carriers. This is a common failure of Ibiquity's
black box. Previous failures were at KIFM, KSON, and if memory is correct, 103.7. Of course, KXOL and KWIZ adjacents, are "jammed" by these
carriers.
Hooked an antenna to an 8563 spec. analyzer, and used KGB as a reference. Good, flat top main carrier and similar, but smaller HD
side carriers. Digital carriers about -18db(c) down from main.
Same at KYXY, but the side carriers had an uneven, changing "top".
Also detected some main carrier audio bleeding onto the side carriers.
Ibiquity's AM "boxes" have a history of problems; 1580 in Phoenix lost their HD for about 3 1/2 weeks back in July; KNX, KFI, KBRT down numerous
times...
A good design would turn off the digital exciter if a failure occurs, and initiate a warning from the on-air HD monitor.
...this is NOT what you would call a "robust" technology.

Everything is JUST FINE. Stop worrying. This is the future. Enjoy.

Seeing as how you could count the number of HD listeners on one finger, you might have been the only one who even noticed.

As of 10am Friday, the lower sideband was gone, upper still on. By 3pm, all was back to "normal".
Garrett, does a "finger" mean HD is #1..??
