KZ** - Let's See Who's Next!

Seems there's a rash of KZ** calls floating around East Texas these days.

First, there was KTPB/Kilgore (RIP) who changed owners and calls to KZLO.

Then, I see a post here on the Texas board about KZXL/Lufkin.

Now, KAJK/White Oak has flipped formats and taken the KZTK calls.

Who's next?

(Kinda makes me reminiscent of the days when AM1330 in Tyler had the KZAK calls. Ah, the good old days!)

I dunno... We've been KZQX since sign on, well over 6 1/2 years ago. There are no plans to change.

When I looked for a call sign, my quick analysis was that "Z", "Q" and "X" were the most commonly requested letters. That way you can be "Z-Rock," "Q-102", or "The X" or any variation you like. Since nobody had used all three, that's what I asked for. The moral of the story is be careful about what you ask for. It isn't all that easy to say, remember or type.

I feel sheepish that I left KZQX off my list. :-[

Good thinking, Chuck. I hadn't thought about your calls in that light. It makes perfect sense, though.

I wonder how much confusion this will make in Arbitron diaries? The majority of after-hours phone calls seem to be from people who can't remember call letters. ::)

LOL Good one...

Technically, KZEY is still a licensed station to Tyler, Texas. So, if you want to throw them into the mix, there's another.
