KZAM 92.5 Urban in 1961!!!

Hey Guys:

Thought I would give you guys this info I found while doing my research.

92.5 From Nov 20, 1961 to 1964 was a R&B station (during that time they actually called R&B another term which I won't say) and the calls were KZAM. It was called "K-ZAM 92.5 FM 24 hours a day for R&B, Jazz and Gospel"
It was owned by Formost Broadcasting Inc. GM was Monte L Strohl.

Amazing!! I didn't even know that. Did anybody here?

Dude..I LIKE you...keep it up...we NEED an illustration of the BEAUTY corporate radio has inherited.....and what THEY have done to absolutely f--k it up......

They had a studio up on E. Madison St. I believe it was an old drive-in restaurant. I used to listen to it occasionally back in 1961-62. The station eventually went bankrupt and was sold for a really cheap price. Don't hold me to this but I think it went for something like $25,000.

Monte Strohl was a radio advertising salesman, but I don't recall where he worked. The facilities were operated rather loosely. When they went off the air, I still remember Lan Roberts opening his microphone and saying "This is Lan Roberts, cleverly disguised as a KZAM announcer".
