KZDG is the new station on 1550AM

At midnight last night, KFRC-AM (the True Oldies Channel version) faded to silence, the "15-50, KZDG, San Francisco" ID played.... then about 40 seconds of silence.... then the KZDG feed (from Newark, I think) came on - "Desi Radio for the Bay Area..." mostly music (Bollywood style, I think...)

The KFRC calls live on now as KCBS's FM frequency (and of course the 106.9 HD2 Classic Hits version)

The True Oldies stream is available from http://www.trueoldies.com/ - CBS San Francisco dropped their True Oldies stream at midnight as well.

I know people that will embrace another Desi station on the AM dial. Especially since KLOK lacks any direction or consistency with their programming.

Right-----no chance of a directional AM seriously competing with that 103.7 signal.............not to mention both True Oldies Channel and Oldies 103.7 play a lot of 70s, hence not a major music difference.

My question is what station will pick up the 1970's version of "American Top 40" which was then hosted by Casey Kasem, now that 1550 KFRC has changed formats from "True Oldies" to Bollywood Music?

We all knew this was going to happen sooner or later..IMO, I thought the music was better overall on 1550, Scott Shannon would sneak in a lost 45 while 103.7 sounds like KFRC did on the 106.9 freq.

Anyone thinking that this is the last format that will be on 1550 AM is smoking some great goodies! 1550 needs to go back to classical music as KKHI!

Is there a web feed for KZDG?

Why would 1550 want to go back to KKHI? thats a dead end idea ;D

??? Wait - I thought "Desi" was Cuban music.

I'm sorry...please forgive me...really, I have no excuse...

It's soooooo atrocious, I'm gonna use it next time the matter comes up in general conversation.

For those who can't get enough of the "True Oldies":
True Oldies Channel has many affiliates - some use the WPLJ-HD2-95.5 New York monaural feed:

I also found this to be true about 1550/TOC. It is one of the things that made it better that 103.7.

Althougt I have complianed about Scott Shannon in the past, he was actually a pretty good Dee Jay.
