I found this over on the Texas board - MAN do I miss the zoo - what FM radio used to be, and is no more.

http://thezoofile.com/

The history page is a textbook about what has gone wrong with radio.

maybe you should combine this with "you know you are old" topic! Thanks for the links...what great memories I have of the Zoo.

Whats gone wrong with radio that easy.

Enough said but I do remember the zoo ahh that takes me back to jr. high.

I hadn't heard that version of Frampton doing Do You Feel Like We Do, timeless!

I've been pleasantly surprised at the number and scope of ZOO flashback sites. KZEW was an amazing collection of talented people in the right place at the right time. I treasure my years at The ZOO.

ESkipper, you need to be beaten sensless for even saying that ;)

On a side note, I found the flyer for the Texxas World Music Festival at fair park...that was in alot of ways the prototype for todays festival shows (Lollapalooza, ACLMF), wish someome would bring that back to Dallas.

Slambang - when was the festival? I remember one at the old Texas Motor Speedway on I-35 North but drawing a blank on one at Fair Park.

What was KZEW?

It was the greatest station ever in dallas. Went off the air what about 15-20 years ago. kinda of like Q102 was but harder. That is before 102.1 became the edge.

I thought that Q102 was as hard or harder as the Zoo when they first came on....
Before they became homginzed and a Cowboy Radio Station....

The Zoo tribute site must be under construction today... as I'm getting lots of the boxes with "x" in them..

I tried www.itsthezoo.com and it directed me to this new site. OK, so that tells me Rody has given up on his site for good and "anointed" this as the new Zoo site...BUT...what about all the great stuff from Rody's site? Soundbites, photos, etc that don't appear on this new site?

I can see them both with no problems. Q102 was a good station until the grunge era when it was trying to compete with the edge. Then it all went to hell. I do miss triple shot thursdays though that was cool.

You guys remind me of Jethro Tull's "Living In the Past." ;D

The things that worked back then won't necessarily work now.

"The things that worked back then won't necessarily work now."

No one said it would. Most people look back fondly on their first car, even though it was probably, by current standards, a dangerous and unreliable piece of junk. No reason that people can't remember radio for what it was, back in the day.

Wow, you guys really get your panties worked up in a wad fast over innocent comments. Maybe the Disney site would be more appropriate for you. You know, it's a lot tamer there.

Maybe you are too much into your cynicism and sarcasm shtick.
