KZFM's power question

KZFM's power is not like it use to be. It use to be one of the clearest stations I could pick up from Corpus out at Lavaca county. Now I can pick up KNDA much better than them. KKMJ even over powers them. Are they ever going to go back to full power???

If they are going to keep it at this power that they are at, wouldn't they need to have a new CP to show the real coverage? I would like to see the real coverage map of what they are covering now. That would be interesting.

Like the FCC even cares about what stations do what (we've gone over many of the illegal broadcasters on here before in SA and Austin).

The FCC will fine you for operating below full-power for longer than, I believe, 10 days without notifying them. However, without a complaint, they'll only catch those things in retrospect, like if they do an inspection and find it in the station log.

I think KZFM has been like this ever since they tried to do HD and it didn't work. it's been a while now since they are in low power. Even KITE in Victoria has a coverage map of their LP coverage.

Checking the KZFM application list and the FCC's responses, the first request for an STA to operate with reduced power was filed in January 2012. The reason cited was that the transmitter needed to be replaced. Two requests for STA extensions later, the reason given is that the antenna needed to be replaced. No mention is made in any of the applications or correspondence as to what "reduced power" is, specifically, and the latest STA is set to expire June 19th.

I think KZFM went back up to full power, can pick it up here in San Antonio now.
