Since we only have B100 here in the QC, I have been working on listening to Z102.9, even though it is hard to get in most of the time. They seem to be focusing on the area and coming up with some interesting ideas musically, like the tournament of music where songs compete against each other. B100 will never do something like that.
With Cumulus obviously locked in format wise in the area, they try competing with B100 and 92.3, which really do not target cedar rapids/iowa city, yet they show in the market rankings.
Does anyone think KZIA has anything to worry about? Are they making enough money to keep it going? I would imagine so since it is number one twelve plus. Also, regarding the past a bit, I remember Q103 being on the air, was it owned by the same people? Why did they change it? They seemed like a very hip, very upbeat Top 40 that sounded different than the ones here in the QC. Lets discuss this, whats the history here.
