What do y'all think about 105.7 being right behind 107.5 in the CHR scene? Seemed like there were some skeptics of WMKS being able to take on KZL as a CHR but I think it was a smart move and it's doing well. 105 is just a point behind 107 in the Jan. PPM. Sure beats the Urban format they tried.

I'm glad to see NOW doing as well as it is - last I heard, I liked their approach to CHR more.
 
It's clear that PPM is telling personalities to shut up and play GaGa or Wacka Flacka. This is sad because another generation will be told to "keep it to 10 seconds" and then, a decade from now, programmers will wonder where all the talent went.

Murphy should seriously consider retirement. The money won't be there for him like it has been in the past
 
Jack Murphy is a morning show "personality" on a CHR station .... he has his own listeners that don't necessarily listen in other dayparts .....

I never would have thought Now would be on KZL's heels like they are now.

KZL almost seems like a mix of a CHR and Adult Top 40. More pop/rock based than most CHR's with more recurrents, less rhythmic. Perhaps listeners are going to 105.7 for "the hits?" They are true CHR.
 
it's clear wihch station will win. It's the one with the more aggressive musical style either alternative or rap. It's the one where the jocks don't sound VTd. I did not say not VT but don't sound VT. The one really talking the walk and not repeating a rap and the one that breaks rule and make you notice for some reason. Which one is that? It's perfectly all there, right? ;)
 
KZL is better as a Hot AC or Adult Top 40. Every time I've heard that station they seem to lack the 'flair' that a successful CHR needs. I know that's vague but I can't really explain it better than that.

They were ripe for the picking and 105.7 has done its job well.

KZL has more of an adult lean/more conservative sound, I know what you're talking about and agree. I don't know if they should be calling themselves "the #1 new music station." Something like "today's best music" would be better.

CHR is the format 105.7 should have launched with in the first place! If they keep it up, I can see them getting ahead of KZL.
