Fresno / Central Valley KZLA 98.3 gets a booster

KZLA 98.3 has been approved on July 2, 2024 for a booster signal in central Fresno. The booster was going to be for 800 watts but has since been granted an increase in power to 5,000 watts, which should help with coverage in the metro area especially in buildings.

Will be interesting to see how the booster interacts with the main signal especially in the fringe areas of each.

That must be bolted to the KCBL (old KMAK) tower. I wonder when it will be ready to go.

I wonder how it will sound for those that are between the transmitters, when KOKO had a 2nd one at Mark's near 180, driving in areas, the sound was distored, like the signals weren't snyched, like they were off but that 5K from the KMAK tower Metro Fresno and Clovis will be awesome.

That KOKO one sounded fine for years, and then one day it didn't.

It looks like KZLA filed for a Silent STA on May 30th due to some damage to their antenna that requires either repair or replacement and the station had been silent since May 24th. The station however seems to still be on the air or recently returned to operation. Also they have a modification to their booster, moving it to the top of the Pacific Southwest Building in Downtown Fresno at 5,000 watts.

Used to be a couple in Boise for rim-shots that were shadowed.
Now just AUX for one (and a couple AUX that should have been deleted long ago since their main moved away).
Just one example I could locate quickly.
KNIV Lyman WY AUX & FM5 covering Park City UT.

Amazing...the station has at least 6 booster facilities one of which is in Salt Lake City. Looking at the map on FCC.org it appears that the main xmitter is not only in Utah, but is actually closer to SLC than it is to its COL Lyman,WY!

Insideradio.com is saying The filing says the signal will continue to simulcast Bendita Eucaristia Radio’s KXEX (1550).
I Haven't heard that 102.3 translator in years now and currently 1550 and 1600 are off air.
