did KZLA exist from 1984 to 2006,in 2006,KZLA was replaced by KMVN,leaving thousands of
listeners,KKGO dropped Standards for Country,so did XESURF,another altenative to the
loss of KZLA is KFRG.

KZLA existed from 1980-2006. And today we rely on KFRG and KOGO/XESURF/KMZT HD-2 for Country.

There.

Great reference.

And KZLA played country music. Now they don't.

"Uh...remember like when you were in the Beatles?? ........That was cool"

KZLA? KMVN? Nurse Jeff & I thought we wuz listenin' to KPOL and beeeutiful musik!

You can thank Emmis Broadcasting's incompetence for KZLA's flip to country; having the worst morning show in the nation's most closely watched, most competitve and top-billing market in America was just ONE of KZLA's problems.

Ex-PD R J Curtis has landed on his feet as the country radio editor @ R&R, and Shawn Parr has a GREAT morning show at AM540/1260; it's FAR superior to Peter Tilden's morning snoozefest at KZLA.

I've always been curious: how in the world did Peter Tilden get the morning show gig on KZLA? I liked him in his talk show days on KABC but he was hard to listen to trying to do country. He sounded like he was clueless about the music(thank goodness Buzz was there to "educate" him) and the industry in general. In my opinion, his style of humor just fell flat. What were his ratings like? They had to be ok or they wouldn't have kept him around for six years.
