KZNX 1530 Nighttime power

I know there isnt really very many Austin listeners on this board, but who in here can get 1530 decent at night? I dont see how even this station can get any place at night. I dont understand why there isnt a decent sports station that covers Austin area and San antonio area at night. Thats pretty bad. Or does anyone care?

Let's show some love for the ESPN towns: KZNX has a CP to increase their paint-peeling 12 watts of nighttime power, up to a border-blasting 220 watts from a new, separate site. KWNX has applied to go from 144 to 400 watts nighttime power from a different 5-tower array.

I kid because I care: it's nice to see AM's spending large money on two new directional antenna sites, the combined nighttime power output of which will be about the same as one bulb in a tower-light beacon. AM directional antennas are not cheap by any means, so credit Simmons for laying the cash on the table.

Why did they even half to downgrade a while back? They use to have a great signal night time, I was able to catch the end of monday night football games on it all the time, but now its just junk at night even on my Super radio much less my Truck.

I'm with you, Dr. Technical -- It's great to see a company (Simmons) that still believes in AM.

The proposed new nighttime pattern for KZNX will blanket Austin...a good map of their proposed new night coverage can be found at radio-locator.com. They didn't show the proposed new KWNX patterns, however.
