KZOK Audio

Holy crap, tuned in to KZOK to hear my buddy Mike West on Breakfast With The Beatles (he's the best!).

The audio is really bad. Sounds like all the music was recorded on
Fidelipac® carts circa 1975 and the heads haven't been cleaned since.

Why is this so difficult to get right these days? Codec mis-matches?
STL problems? Don't tell me they're playing mp3's?

For those who may be new to the Fab Four, there is a tambourine on "Mean Mister Mustard" but you can't hear it on KZOK.

Sounds to me like they're running 64 K mp3s into there processor. It's been like this since about Thursday. Give them a about a week and it'll be back to normal, at least that's what it was last time this happened.

They fixed it.

I did listen over the weekend and since it affected both the music and live voice I would say it was the link to the transmitter. Maybe something failed forcing them to a back-up path to the transmitter that, while satisfying the advertising schedule was less satisfying to the listener.

Sometimes you have to run on a backup system longer than you want to when waiting for parts or even trouble shooting a multi-hope STL path so you can then order or arrange for parts.
