KZON Free FM 101.5 and their latest Talk Show

It seems to me that after 101.5 put on two test shows at night:

Big O and PUKES

and that guy and the girl - who were LAME

That they have no clue as to what they want on the air.

they are supposed to have a new show on the air to replace Phil Hendrie but it seems like Free FM wants to cater to the college crowd with low brow humor and sex only shows.

Anyone have any opinions on this?

What would you like to hear on Free FM affter Tom Leykis??
 
Well my take is to get the virus known as Opie and Anthony to the valley. Who knows if the rumours are true but they eventually will replace Carolla on the west coast, would be wise to get the market familiar with them now plus they are a very good show. I also would vote for Sean and Ty. Loved their lockeddown show from a few months back.
 
I Would like to see a local show on Free Fm. Some one with some balls to entertain. As far as the test shows. I liked the guys from D.C.(Big O and Dukes) and that Lock Down show.. I think that's what they were called. I'm 43M and I enjoy the KZON lineup. I was sad to see Phil go.. What I think Free FM needs is a show that is all about Phoenix. Either way I think this opening should be filled with a show with some sort of track record in the biz. This is my first post on this board. I aways read it but never really thought to participate. Just curious why WolfOntheair seems so bitter. No knocking you wolf.. It just seems like you are always negative. When I lived in San Diego there was this guy who would aways post [******] things about all the radio shows on the air. And I always wondered... Why all that hate. It cant be healthy. Anyways I hope no one takes offense.. It just seems a little pathetic to take shots at people who are just striving to create something good for us to listen to. Just my thoughts... Thanks

Not Bitter at all. I take your comments well. You say the stations are trying to create something good for "Us" To listen to. I am TRYING to create that show. That is the so called hate of my post (Not meant to come across as hateful) But when 101.5 refuses to let a Host do a test show and that talent is LOCAL it baffles me. lol No hate intended, Posts can come across cold in the words.
Even thou CBS says they want a "Local" Show and the Assistant to the General Manager said the exact same thing, 101.5 keeps flying in people to test on the air and do the same old College sophmoric shows and refuses to test out "Local" Talent. Big O and Dukes got the Gig. Their test shows were lame and not very creative. BUT...101.5 hired them.

You do realize that Big O and Dukes fits a lot better with Free-FM's ideal demographics than Leykis, don't you? Leykis is unfunny and unlistenable, and I seriously have to question you when you go after Big O and Dukes about being "sophomoric" compared to Leykis.

Nope, I agree Leykis is lame also. You dont have to be crude like Big O aand Dukes was to get callers.
I am also seriously questioning you as to why you are so staunchly defending your Choice to fill your air slot?

Because it really annoys me when people kill a show needless when it's only been on the air for a few weeks.

I've asked multiple times - WHAT SHOW DO YOU WANT TO FILL THE SLOT? Nobody has given me an answer yet.

First of all when Big O and Dukes were on they were LAME and stunk. College Kids doing a show for the first time would be just as qualified as they are. This is not hate but fact.

Secondly, you missed my point...101.5 had OTHER shows (Who applied for the Slot) that were available to be used in a "Test" Show and 101.5 would NOT give them the shot on the air. What would it have hurt anyone to let other shows get a chance late at night to show the listeners and the management what they could do?
This was not a real try out Test. They placed an ad and got response and only aired 2 shows (Hosts) to fill that slot? Ridiculous!

They had two qualified shows, maybe more (I do not know how many for a fact) then the 2. They did have 2 Others!
They would NOT test them on the air because it was already set in stone that they were going to hire Big O and Dukes. 101.5 does not care about quality, only controversy. There show will not go over big with the majority of the quality talk show listeners.
 
The Test Shows I know of are:

Locked Down with Ty and Sean

Toucher and Rich

Big O and Dukes

Colin Boyd, Steffani, and Dead Air Dave
 
My fav one was Lockeddown. Nothing like some Hot Frat boys doing hot talk radio :)
