KZON- Mid to late 90's alternative

All Kzon plays is mid to late 90's alternative. Some good but most of it is bad. And the DJ today compared The Verve to Oasis. She could'nt be anymore off the mark. This station is a joke!

I mostly listen to Radio Free Phoenix except in the car and then it's 103.1. Wasn't Andy Olson, who does mornings on RFP, on the ZONE at one time ?

I'm sure I remember hearing Andy around The Bone Mama era.
I, too, am a convert to Radio Free Phoenix and am surprised their first anniversary came and went a few weeks ago, without much note here.
He's pretty much got the same air-staff and they now have sponsors.

If I could get 103.1 in the Northwest Valley, I would.

Andy did some part-time towards the end of the Bone Mama era, a few months before the station went more commercial. He may have done some full time after I left. Super nice guy.
______________

While comparing the Verve and Oasis is a bit of a stretch, that I can't defend. But let me get this straight, there playing music from the mid to late 90's. Hold on, there playing the hits and not some random crap and we are complaining. Think about it like this. Let's say they are going for the 25-34 demo. What did that demo listen to and enjoy, the hits from the mid-late 90's. Sprinkle in some new music to keep it fresh and ta-da, we have a good mix that will keep the target demo happy.

I'm in their target demo (25-34) as are the majority of the people that I know. Everyone is saying "Why happened to the Zone? It sucks now.". So I don't think they are keeping the target demo happy. The target demo is talking about how the Zone used to be good and now they are listening to the Edge. With the music world turning a corner people in that demo want more than hits sometime.

I think the jocks on the Zone used to have a deep knowledge about the music, when they had Edison, Mccann and Doc. Now the people there know just enough to fake it and a guy named "Fathead".

Did the Zone used to be a great pure alternative rock station?

I remember in 2002 and 2003 they were a Modern AC / Modern Rock hybrid. This was a format that looked great on paper, but the real thing sounded like a trainwreck.

The Zone started out as AAA and then morphed into a Modern AC.
______________
