KZON ON yes.com

I went on yes.com and looked up KZON 101.5 Jamz. I noticed on the top 100 songs for the station are a bunch of Paris Hilton songs in the top of the list and below are rock songs which I guess are from when it was The Zone. Also noticed all Paris songs were played before the flip. That must of been fun to listen to. lol Yeah right.

Anyways the station sounds good. Its kind of like B 96 in Chicago. Hits and Hip Hop. Good luck to the new station. Glad to see CBS Radio moving more FREE-FMs back to music formats. With two FreeFms gone today that leaves 8 on the list. I checked it on cbsradio.com. But I am sure some of those stations will station Talk.

Yep, top 100 songs on Yes.com for each station change a bit at least once a day really... and 24 hours of Paris () definitely made a difference. So I guess that was every song Paris ever recorded so far?

I suppose.

Expect "Summer Love" to explode on their station playlist. I've heard that song at least 10 times in the past four hours. Poor playlist control, even for a Rhythmic IMO. :-\

Actually, those other rock songs are from FREE-FM, frequently--since they didn't sell enough ads to fill the spot breaks--they would play music in that period.. a lot of Chili Peppers and such.

Thank God we have another station in Phoenix that plays the same 30 songs over and over again, how refreshing.

I second that. I've checked in on KZON five times since the flip (twice Friday evening, once Sunday afternoon, and twice this morning) and I've heard Summer Love three times in those random check-ins.

I look on yes.com, and there's a lot more recurrents, and I tuned in and it sounded a bit less repetitive.

What they need are some golds.

I wonder if Jams is spying on the posts--they just added too many golds to their playlist.

If they are reading--put Paula DeAnda's "Easy" on your playlist.

Blech, Paula Deanda is one of my least favorite girly Pop singers. If anything, they should add Cassie's "Long Way To Go".

i tried listening to jamz 3 or 4 times and each time...

Agreed. Except everytime I tune in I'm hearing...

SUICIDOH! SUICIDOH, SUICIDOH!!!

Someone might want to explain that the word is "suicidal" - whatever. The repetition on Jamz is so much worse than Kiss/Power... Just when you thought that there couldn't be anything worse than Free-FM, CBS says "oh, we can go lower".

Cassie of all people? Disgusting...at least Paula's got a voice and vibe to her. Plus "Long Way 2 Go" was a single last year and it flopped hard.

And girly pop singers is what need to come back--Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears need to go back to that formula because rap is getting boring, yes that's what needs to happen. Too bad it ain't 1999 anymore.

Doesn't seem repetitive. Actually an appealing playlist.

We're not in 1999 anymore, nor in 1987 when Debbie Gibson and Tiffany were hot on the charts (or New Kids on the Block 2 years later).
There's always a backlash when a station goes overboard on pre-teen Pop. What I mean by pre-teen is that while these Pop artists are teenagers, their biggest fanbase is the under 12 year old demo. The CHR audience may find a couple of these songs in rotation cute as was the case with Hanson, but too much of it and the station suffers in the longrun. Kiss 92.5 Toronto came and went so quickly even though they had big ratings and a huge cume b/c they played too much of it. KIIS-FM Los Angeles has had to adjust its format b/c back in 99 every other record on the station was by Britney, Backstreet Boys, N Sync, or Christina. That's not Pop, that's teen pop geared at the pre-teen crowd. When you think about it teen pop, meaning records that are big with 12-17 year olds, are the big Hip Hop hits and edgier Rock songs (hard rock in the late 80s, Grunge in the 90s, and EMO at the moment). As a general rule, the records that test well with women 18-34 will be picked up by CHRs, and the hits that test well with women over 25 will play all day.

So whats pure Pop? Maroon 5's "Makes Me wonder", Rhianna, Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Pink, Avril, are mass appeal, female friendly pure Pop. You're also seeing more and more Hot A/Cs play Rhythmic hits by the likes of Akon, Beyonce, Pussycat Dolls, and Sean kingston. Why? the Rhythmic A/C format influence. While Rhythmic A/C stations aren't setting the world on fire, it's telling Hot A/Cs that they can play some of Rhythmic records again instead of leaning on Modern A/C.

Paula DeAnda isn't under 12 year olds. In fact that's a laughable statement. I have yet to hear something of hers on Radio Disney, or any children's music service. Paula's audience is about dead similar to artists like Ciara. Look up people buying her CD--Mostly teens and young adults and female teens and young adults at that.

Dude, we are not having this conversation :D This is not the Radio Disney board :p Both have had hits on the CHR chart, but Cassie's the one you'll also hear on R&B radio. Paula Deanda? Not so much.

Let's compare:
Paula Deanda's "Easy"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jjPyJYWDGsU
or worst yet her song "Doin Too Much"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9MmK69gDsfQ

Paula sounds sounds a lot like early Mandy Moore...

Cassie's "Me And You"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=MGAQIpd-row

and the international smash (ie a big radio airplay hit in Europe) "Long Way To Go"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=cRFdV67JdvQ&mode=related&search=

Cassie sounds a bit like Ashanti, and has a bit more credibility since she's associated with Bad Boy Entertainment.

[/quote]

Paula's audience is about dead similar to Ciara's except it's about 750,000 people smaller and without a large percentage of black females ;D
