KZON To Get AMPed?

Just noticed on the 101.5 Jamz website an advertisement about a quarter of the way down the page on the right side for 97.1 Amp Radio. Not sure if this is a hint that Jamz will go Top 40 as AMP or what. It would be interesting though to have KZZP get some competition with another Top 40 station.

CBS isn't getting anywhere with "JAMZ" so of course there will be a format change. It's just a matter of time. Just like they flipped FREE FM after a year or so because it sucked and nobody tuned in. CBS has changed the "JAMZ" moniker from "Blazin The Valley's Hitz and Hip Hop" to "The Valley's #1 Hit Music Station" to rival KISS. "JAMZ" is not a Top 40 brand. "AMP Radio" is CBS's newest Top 40 creation so start placing your bets that "AMP Radio" will grace the airwaves of 101.5 eventually.

as the expert on chrrr...i can tell you cbs won't ever change jamz. they keep making more all over the country (including here in NYC).

Jamz will eventually get blown up and anyone that believes differently does not know radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Jamz in fine in its current state. Granted, the AM show needs work but the crosstown AM show on KKFR sux just as bad! Strawberry thinks he's still in northern california and it doesn't work and the one Nut trys to be mexican when he's dominican and the other nut trys to be latina when he's asian i think. The AM shows are a mess and I hope they understand they're not going to catch JJ&R. The music does sounds great on KZON so kudos to whom ever handles that. ALSO I'M HEARING KKFR let CHARLIE HUEDO go. Things must be real bad there!

Some random thoughts...

I think Free FM was an abject lesson for CBS in why cookie-cutter formats don't work. Those people are gone from the company, and I doubt that they're going to try and take the "AMP" brand nationwide. That said, it appears there is someone very high up in the food chain at CBS who thinks CHR is a good idea. Maybe they'll try to tailor a CHR to each market. AMPed in El Lay, NOW in New York, etc.

However, from what I understand, 101.5 Jamz is Mark Waters' baby, and as long as he's running things at CBS Phoenix, it won't go away. So no CHR for you, Phoenix!

I am thinking that the real question needs to be...is Charlie Huero headed to Jamz? Just sayin...

Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled speculation.

The King of Cola's

You've already got Amp Radio.  It just happens to be called 101.5 Jamz.

Thank you, drive through!

Thanks. I may never have to talk again if people continue to say what I was about to say before I do it. Usually, it's I observe and talk early, then criticism ("no way - you're crazy... never!..." etc), then it seems like an echo weeks / months down the road when things unfold, seemingly according to my predictions (and not only when it comes to music either, but that's a different story..). But this time, no. Also, I've already mentioned JamZ in the Amp sections.

It would be interesting to see an Amp and JamZ together in the same market.... VERY interesting... but lets say in a fantasy world that we just happened to get Amp instead of JamZ. Oh well. Then my favorite station would just be called Amp. Maybe I'd hate the name a bit, but I'd get over it.

...Speaking of KZON I have no idea why I'm streaming them now when I have a radio I could get up and walk over to get! I'm being lazy... and I just realized what I'm listening to - VIEWPOINTS!
Alright... way past time for bed. Guess I'll sleep through Hollywood Hamilton today.

A majority (most) of the points made within this topic are sensible points, when you REALLY think about it.

"JamZ" did sound very appropriate for the way it sounded from the time when they first popped on the scene, and throughout most of 2008. Now, however, they are not too far off from an AMP style format.

That is pretty much the brief summary edition of the theme of this entire thread.

I don't think I'd mind if they got Amp'ed because I'm sure it will still be a good thing for Phoenix and the rhythmic sound in Arizona radio.. but either way, JamZ is being very smart according to today's trends in the sound of music.

Now that I think of it... The Vibe in Las Vegas should also rebrand because.. when I hear "The Vibe, I don't expect..... well, I'm just making an observation.
