KZPS/Observer Article

"oth [Redbeard] and Doherty insist the playlist will only get "deeper and wider" in coming days and weeks, especially when the permanent Web site goes live April 30, when listeners can actually suggest artists and titles for the playlist over which Redbeard and Doherty say they will have complete control.

"I am not researching anything," Doherty says. "If it sounds good, we’ll play it. There are no preconceived notions about anything here.""

Sounds like a winner, as long as they stick to that!

Gee, will the webiste --for requests-- be as lame as the CC/KZPS message board was ? ? ? ?

The message board for listeners of KZPS was really lame.... AND NO ONE CARED ! ! ! !

Acural listener input and discussion was not really needed or wanted, ergo the lame message board.

The Black Crowes Y-U-C-K ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Why don't you just play some John Cougar Mellancamp, and make me barf !!!!!

The fact that Mr. know it all Redbeard couldn't "hit the ground running" with a wide and deep playlist means, I huess, that the Sponsors haven't told him which songs they want played to hawk their junk by.....

I'm so glad the airvwaves AND the DJs are For Sale.....
That ALWAYS gives the Best listening experience for the targeted comumers.

Loyal to Sponsors..... Now that's what drives me to rock radio.... Cool Sponsors !!!!!
After all, "I'm just a midless consumer--- you target audience!!"

I like to rag on KZPS, 'cause they could have had such a vibrant rock radio station---
but didn't..

What do you know of Red Beard? Just what you heard of recently? If so you don't know him and he is actually on your side. If you know DFW radio history you know who he is,where he stands and what he has done. You would be delighted.

And so, I must ask.... why couldn't the Bosses at CC let Redbeard have complete control of the Rock? ? ? Because, after all, it's not about the music, it's about numbers, and, the best numbers (Not-- the Best Music), comes from playlists that are --not-- deep.

So rEmember Listener--- YOU ARE JUST A NUMBER !

A Target for Advertising ! ! Listen all day.... we just might play your song ! ! !

Rover, the 70's are gone dude. If you were around DFW back then, all the underground stations changed. KNUS went top 40, KFAD went to...don't even remember ::) Then came the ZOO, but IMHO, it wasn't near as good as the KNUS-KFAD. It's all about the big bucks. Give Red Beard, et al. a chance, he'll do all he can, but his hands are tied.
