KZPS Prediction

2.1 2.4 2.7 2.5 2.3
What's all the "2"s for? I'm thinking .1, .4, .7, .5, .3 (the .4 is giving full credit for the curiosity factor.)

It depends on if they keep repeating the songs or if they spread it out...repetition will hurt.

Very true. Remember when the Bone became the BONE? They were initially successful, and the tal kwas positive, suddenly the playlist was shortened, and then Scott Strong tinkered with it and ruined it. Hopefully KZPS learned from this mistake.

But PLEX, come on... this is Big D. We don't learn from our mistakes, we just strive to duplicate them. ;)

Depends on how short the playlist is. Our Fall book was the best we've ever had, and we had about 250 songs in rotation at the time. When we expand the playlist, TSL may rise, but cume falls. :(

Why don't you guys just let this go, it's a done deal. Live with it.

Haven't you learned yet? This board is full of "Grumpy Old Men"..... Never satisfied....

Haven't heard this board is full of grumpy ol men, whinning old ladies, disatisfied plants and animals, political hacks, lousy Pd's, Cranky Gm's, salespeople who are real estate agents in disguise ,and D.E. ::)

Can anybody out there picked 95.3 The Range? I sure as hell can't, I'm glad Lonestar 92.5 is here.

You said it, and I'm definately going to agree with it......

This change is refreshing for DFW. It will be interesting to see how it plays out when the air staff comes on. I personally think its a good sound for DFW overall. The classic rock format has really gotten tired due to such narrow playlists, ahem Bone. The only thing that I've observed with Lonestar, strangely, is a bit of song repetition. There are clearly a few "pet" songs. Another observation, and this will probably change when the DJ's are in the mix, is that they should be sure to tell listeners who these artists are and maybe even give a bit of bio or current info occasionally if applicable.

I bet ZZ Top's royalty check this month is going to triple! ;D

I kinda doubt that, since royalty payments are distributed evenly.

The comment was not meant literally. Kinda tongue in cheek, if you know what I mean. Or, maybe you don't. :-\ ;D

Man oh man are they getting PC. They played Bob Dylan's :hurricane" this afternoon. Some of the words intact were "SH _ T',"A$$" ,That sonna B_ - - - " is getting braver and braver"

but when it came down to the lyric"Did that sonnava B_ _ _ _ N - - - - - pull the trigger" the N"word was edited out". Considering "Hurricane" was a true story about a black fighter falsley accused of murder and Bob Dylan wrote it after reading court testimony, and used direct quotes from the 1967 Patterson New Jersey Police Department. Its ridiculous! They left the other offensive words in! I guess its ok to use f* now but do not say the above along with other racial slang, even they are about a true story. How many times have you heard "H----Y"'Whitey""don't snitch to the cracker" on the hip hop stations? That is if you tuned in to them.

Absolutely untrue.

1000 plays in the DFW market will get you a much bigger royalty check than 1000 plays in Shreveport. Anomalies will happen. But statistically it will come to be true over time.

And, a station that streams (like they do), will add heavier weight to the royalty check than a station that doesn't stream.

It might take a few months for the sampling to show ZZ Top is played more. But it'll eventually translate to dollars.
