I heard KZPS yesterday and they were playing Metallica's Unforgiven" and I also noticed they played "Enter Sandman" and also 2 Stone Temple Pilots songs during the early morning hours. What's up with that?? I never heard them playing Metallica and Stone Temple Pilots before on this station, could someone fill me in??

Methinks KZPS maybe about to screw around with their rotation or format. The last time I checked, classic rock was from the late 60s-middle/latter 70's. Metallica is 80's and early 90's metal while STP is def. 90's alt rock.

Or, maybe they're anticipating a change at The Bone...or hoping to instigate a change with Cummulus taking-over. In addition to Metallica and STP, they're playing some deeper cuts and more hairbands (long live Whitesnake).

I've noticed that too, since they got rid of that girl who did the KZPS Hairball program they've been playing more 80's hairbands

I know what Duane is trying to do and it will work. Metallica and STP are old songs and it depends which song by STP he is playing because STP did not come out till about late 88 or 89. They are testing it between 12-5am and if it works it will squeese into rotation other wise it will be droped if that makes sence

Change in music is inevitable for KZPS and KLUV with their formats. They have to invoke late 70's to late 80's sometime within the next couple of years. Ijust hope they(KZPS) don't over do it with the 80's metal bands.

Does Pearl Jam fit in the mix? If so, is KZPS going to play them too?

Sorry OM, but you are about 3-4 years too early. The first STP album came out September 1992.

That is correct. Their first record contract was signed on April 1, 1992, and their first album, Core, was released in September.
