kzza 106.7

I heard a rumor going around that KZZA is changing to country after the 4th of July weekend. Does anybody know about this??

My sources say it's a possibilty since there pd is the former pd at kscs. What's with 1190? Now their COWBOY 1190????

Actually I've heard this as well but I didn't say anything about it. It seems that classic country has become something now that 1190 is here.

Classic Country would probably be a good choice for the 106.7 signal, and would beat 96.7 to the punch, were they thinking of going that direction.

In Houston "Country Legends 97.1" has been a reasonably decent success story for a rimshot that had seen eight format failures over a ten year span prior to flipping to Classic Country.

KTFW did okay given everything that was involved. They suck now, but I think that has a lot to do with the new owners. People were surprised that KTFW even showed up in the ratings.

KZZA has such a bad signal that it is doubtful they would try country; Jeff Liberman of Entravision announced to the staff several months ago that the whole Dallas cluster was up for sale anyway.

Re: KTFW

KTFW was sold to the same company that owns the Ranch, but Gary Moss had a change of Heart and re-purchased it back some time ago. KTFW does very well for the audience it serves. They only concentrate on the rural counties to the west and southwest, plus Tarrant county. They are not concerned with ratings.

Well, the mixing is over and Casa is stil Casa.....

Gordon:

KTFW 92.1 is still owned by KFWR (LKCM) It's the AM station Moss took back i believe. Unfortunately KFWR/KTFW are still GERRYrigged :D

Nina Chantele shouldn't never said anything about changing to country, that's one good way to lose listeners

I would think that something slightly more productive could be done with kzza. Another mystery to me is knor. Maybe someone has some insight into how that property could make money.

As long as Liberman can sell any commercials on it, they dont care...they could do more with their Houston stations but dont and then wasted millions buying the Bay City stations, trying to upgrade them and think they will cover SW Houston worth a flip (NOT!)...What a POOR ROI...this is another (bad) example of "we know what works" from the top down..oh well...

Liberman does not own KZZA. It is owned by Entravision. And Liberman is doing beautifully with his Houston properties, as he is a low cost, economy rate operator and sells very well. One would not, given a choice, want to work there... but Lenard runs very profitable stations.

David,
I was not talking about KZZA....Critic319 mentioned KNOR....Yes, you are correct about given a choice...however, Lenard (and PAPA Jose) could be doing much better and getting better returns...but to them, they would take a $100-500 profit their own way rather than a $1000 profit by someone else's idea..

They DEFINATELY position themselves as a FW station. I wonder why they and KHYI don't show up more in the ratings? Is it strictly a signal issue????? That "Texas country" audience is definately out there. I don't hear much difference in the Range since Bruce Kidder was blown out.
