Great. Another HOT AC format! *YAWN* this market is a boring wasteland. :'(

You have almost as many choices there as we do in LA.... You even have two classic hits stations and the Bay Area has only one... and it's satellite delivered on AM.

Well we do have a semi AAA in the Sound....and more live seasoned air-talent here...plus an all news radio station w/o right-wing hosts interrupting the news flow.

The Zone is gone. Call letters will remain and has been relaunched as NOW 100.5...Today's hits without the rap.

Oh joy... ::)

When in blazes are we gonna get an AAA in Sac? One that isn't afraid to rock and doesn't play a lot of acoustic yawners?

Sounds like just a re-branding. Isn't this what they currently play (for the most part)?

Not from any of the big operators. It'd have to be a local owner, like Results. Or Entravision. Heck, I'd settle for a K-Pig simulcast. ;)

Never mind. Just check the website as of 3 PM, its officially Now 100.5 FM.

IMO, they should've made Now 100.5 as a CHR and modify KSFM to make it Urban, like their sister Hot 93.7 Hartford. Are the jocks that were on The Zone still going to be on the new station?

How many more times is Sacramento Radio going to have to expierence this four top 40 stations at a time routine? Hey Guys it never works get over it already! Welcome to Sacramento's version of the vast radio wasteland!

I just happened to run into a friend that still works there. Alicia was let go yesterday, I think, and they are going commercial free until further notice. Checked em out after I found out, and it sounds like the same sh*t I was playing when I worked there 2 years ago.

[/quotActuall a well done classic hits station 60s-70s and 80s with personality aggressive fun contesting ON A GOOD SIGNAL would do very good. So what if we have TWO classic hits stations there on crappy signals. Put a KEARTH or a CBS-FM on here it would do very well and attract 50 and UNDER demos.

Actually that's not true in the PPM world. Markets are gaining CHR's left and right...haven't you noticed???

It was sad that KZZO's live and local was getting it's ass kicked by "all premium choice" KGBY.

It's looks like the listeners prefer the star power of Ryan Seacrest and a music playlist full of researched hits (while national) over what KZZO had to offer.

When it's all said and done another half ass attempt by cbs sacramento with a new format. Prediction 1,7-2.3 Oh boy the 4th rated chr. There strategy to bring The End down so KSFM will be the end won't work.

Aside from the horrible positioning, they might have a chance if they got the right talent. Perhaps Alexa might be "movin'" from S.F.? What about bringing Keith back to afternoon drive? Then again, that would involve spending money. Nevermind.

Some people are just never happy. Tons of bitching on here when a company doesn't spend money on it's stations, and by no big surpirse, tons of bitching when a company invests a lot of money to reposition is's station. Doesn't matter the station or company, so people just feel the need to bitch...constantly. Sounds like more than anything it's just a bunch of people who got the short end of the stick in an tough industry and have nothing better to do with their time then complain. Everyone seems to be an expert and know best. Here's a big *YAWN* to that.

Depends on how you look at it. This is a discussion forum, so, there are going to be many opinions voiced. And it is certainly easier to play 'armchair PD' when it's not your a$$ on the line. However, it's silly to see a large corporation like CBS re-brand and throw some advertising cash at a station that's been broken for years, thinking it will fix it. KZZO doesn't give listeners anything they can't already get at another station (KGBY, or even KDND), so why continue to beat this dead horse? What this frequency needs is nothing short of a major overhaul, call letters included. There has been discussion on this board in the past of a active/alternative format being a good candidate to give Entercom some competition. But no one has stepped up to the plate.

Is NOW 100.5 still carrying Loveline? I wonder if this is also the end of their annual events "Day in the Zone" and "Exotic Zone Ball"?
