KZZP Picks Up Ghetto House Radio

So, we now have house mixes on KZON, KZZP, and KWSS. I'm listening to the House show ("A Story of Extraordinary Sound") on KWSS now. However, I love Friday evenings and nights on KWSS better than Saturday nights because the Saturday night house show is only an hour and Friday nights they get into more styles of uptempo and downtempo alternative electronica (such as alternative house, dubstep, new wave, "future retro"...etc.) and then it's followed by dance / electronic mixshows. Saturday night's house show may only be an hour, but it's all good because Saturday night is when KZON and KZZP get at it. Who would've thought that this would be a normal thing for someone to write 3 or 4 years ago? I think 2012 will be a good year for dance music. I'm happy to hear some deeper stuff on terrestrial radio for a change. Britney Spears, Taio Cruz, Usher, Black Eyed Peas...etc. are ok, but it becomes all too predictable sometimes. If everyone is going to use house beats, then I want to hear a wider selection of deeper house material. Not just the same mainstream radio version dance/pop hits.

I didn't catch the show on KZZP last night. I tuned in just after 2am, and it was T Pain. I looked on yes.com just now, and the 1am hour was empty, with regular playlist stuff before and after it. So perhaps the show is only 60 min?

I did however catch KZON's House show (as I normally do on my drive home) and I must admit, sounds like that dude is getting his tracks WAY Late. Barely discovering Afrojack "Ghettoblaster", Bingo Players "Cry", Avicii "Levels", and Calvin Harris "Feel so Close"! Well, at least KVIT starts their awesome "House Connection" at Midnight, and its a full 2 hours without a Ghetto host, LOL.

Yeah I like that Friday Nite show on KWSS too KDM. The Factory kicks ass! :)

KZZP didn't do Ghetto House Radio at all last night. I knew I should've waited just a little it longer before getting excited and posting! I just knew...

As far as KZON, It's not that he's getting his records "late". He just uses a lot of older tracks in mixes quite a bit. As a matter of fact, I've heard both KZON and KZZP using Bingo Players in regular daytime and evening mixes for a few months now. Dj Earth uses it a lot (and it's also in the Saturday night mix(es) that KZZP tends to repeat on a weekly basis). The Avicii track has also been played on KZON's house show for a while, too. I believe he has all the remixes (including the full Avicii version with Flo Rida which he uses in regular mixes, but not on the house show, of course). Remember, I've heard Edun's "put 'em up" a few times around the time The House Show first started on KZON, so he does tend to use some older tracks, but it doesn't necessarily mean he just got or discovered them.

That is actually a bootleg mash up with Good Feeling. I'm sure he has newer tracks, perhaps kept on a leash, and trying to appeal to the sheep listeners that are behind with trends.

Why wouldn't they have aired Ghetto House Radio? I even checked the FB page for GHR and I guess they thought KZZP was going to air it last night (Sat nite).

I really think that KZZP should change up their Saturday night dj line up. They should have Dj Aaron Taylor and Earth instead of Thrasher because Thrasher's mixshow music style sort of messes up the entire flow, ESPECIALLY with Dj Earth and GHR around it.

If it were up to me, I'd at least put Thrasher on first to play the pure hit music then let Dj Earth go on next to get into the deeper stuff he tends to flirt with in his mixes, then follow it up with GHR, and I would simply put Baka Boyz Allstar Hitmix on Friday nights instead from 9-12 or 10 -1. Either that, or I'd have Aaron Taylor and Earth on Sat. nights with Thrasher doing whatever weekday day time mixes are available.

Thrasher's radio music & mixshow style would be perfect for the current KRQ mixshow style, or KMVA. I'm not sure how Thrasher sounds when he's not being "tied down" by radio so I can only judge based on his rather safe KZZP ultimix and xmix mixshow music selection.

At Whiskey Girl Bar in San Diego, Marc Thrasher goes all over the place with music formats. I've heard him mix in Bon Jovi, Jackson 5, Daft Punk, Chris Brown, 2 Pac, The Buggles, Swedish House Mafia, Hadaway, Taio Cruz, and Deadmau5. All in the same hour. At the Wavehouse on Mission Beach, I heard him play mainly Classic Rock and Alternative flashbacks. He can do it all.

101.5 Jamz played the same House show they did last week (playing the same examples in the same order that I mentioned last Sunday).

I heard it, and I thought about it, but wasn't sure if you were listening.

I'm kind of glad that everyone slacked yesterday because I was working on something of my own last night. KWSS did an Etta James tribute, so there was no house from 10-11 o clock pm there, either.

I accidentally fell asleep early this evening, but woke up just in time to catch Nadia Ali on KZON around 10:07pm. I flipped over to KZZP to see what they're playing.. and what in the world do I hear?

GHETTO HOUSE RADIO.

I guess Aaron Taylor is the only local dj left on air - Friday's from 5-5:30pm? Unless Ghetto House Radio started at 10pm leaving room for an hour of local mixing between Baka Boyz Allstar Hitmix from 6-9pm and GHR from 10-whenever. I guess, judging by when all the mixing stops tonight, I will be able to figure out when the 3 hour GHR mix started.

I wish I stayed up all evening to catch whatever happened between 8-10pm. According to TuneIn, it seems like KZZP's music was untrackable since 9pm, and if so, that means GHR started at 9 and will end at midnight. It wouldn't make much sense for them to throw in an one hour mix of mainstream hits in the mix from 12-1am, so... maybe they'll just stop at 12pm on Saturday's now.

That's silly that Ghetto House Radio ended around 11:15pm and Dj Earth's regular local Saturday Night mix started at 11:22pm. If they do the entire local mix that they normally do on Saturdays, then it will go until about 3:17am or something like that. GHR sounds rather out of place sandwiched between Baka Boys AllStar Hitmix and a local mainstream top 40 mix. They should just have the local mix on Fridays, and let the whole Baka Boyz hitmix and GHR organization syndicate through all of Saturday night.

KZZP is very good at following trends.. because I remember back when they used to use the Backa Boyz All Star Hip Hop Mixes back when hip hop was huge. Then they got on the All Star Hit Mix when chr style top 40 electro-pop hit music sound took over and everyone was confused on what this "new sound" actually was, so it was just labeled under "hit music" although most of it was electronic. Now, the dance sound is blatantly in your face and no one can rely deny the popularity of the entire sound, so the house sound - it's officially in; It's the next big thing now, and what does KZZP do? Pick up Ghetto House Radio.

Seems as if they've used all of the Baka Boyz mix services.

I wonder.. just out of curiosity.. and I'm being serious.. what would they all do if alternative or rock became the next big thing? Would they mix that, too?

So thats where its been playing while we thought it was MIA. Quite odd time i must say. KDM, I appreciate your info, but you could have easily cut your last 3 posts down to 1. Yes.com would have showed you a good idea when it started, and therefore the rambling about all these times and other shows (that people outside AZ could care less about) wouldn't need to be mentioned. Just my 2 cents. Less is more
