L.A. County Fire Chief says Mt Wilson needs better Fire Protection

If you remember during the Station Fire at one point fire officials seemed all but certain the transmitters and historic observatory atop Mt Wilson were going to be engulfed in flames.

Now in the aftermath of this event, which the critical structures of Mt Wilson were spared, the L.A. County Fire Chief wants a 100 to 300-foot barrier devoid of flammable vegetation around the towers and buildings.

Have stations created a backup plan should something happen to the transmitters atop Mt Wilson?

Almost all, if not all, the FMs on Wilson have backup sites. Clear has a site on Mulholland, CBS on Verdugo, Univision on Flint, etc.

Naturally, at those reduced heights, coverage would suffer but staying on the air would be achieved.
