Kinda concerned with KKGO! What's going on over there?

Power 106 sliding a bit in the ratings; KDAY going up a little. Does anyone think that KDAY is taking a portion of Power's listeners since KDAY is growing in cume?

Hip-hop is in a general funk right now- and I think this is what is affecting the 6+ numbers at KPWR. I'm guessing they're still top 3 in 18-34?

Regardless, if rhythmic doesn't find their next big star or make a shift musically, stations like KPWR will slowly die on the vine. The product has grown stale.

(On a completely personal note, and I'm not saying this is indicative of the general population, in the past two to three months I've switched from listening primarily to KPWR, KAMP and KIIS to now listening to KBIG, KYSR, KROQ, KLOS and KDAY)

KOST's 6+ numbers may seem stunning, but let's get real. Can you sell Christmas music numbers to any smart buyer the rest of the year???????? They will still be fine in the next PPM, but nothing like this.

But look at the cume... all those "extra" people sampled the station. Some put it on buttons on their radio. Others will at least listen a bit after Christmas, and if they keep a tiny percentage as "regulars" it's a win. And in August and September, guess what KOST will be using to sell the Christmas retail accounts with?

Means we're getting old!

KABC = Nosedive to Hell!

So many things wrong with this station!

Heritage standing - long gone - KABC heritage calls means nothing to anyone below the 55+ demo

Talent - no continuity; talent that has been brought in doesn't match the quality of the talent that they replaced almost up and down the line-up, and who can tell what the real format of the station is? Tilden (radio for grandparents) to FHF (young, mostly not political, leftover from Hot Talk FM format) to a six hour block of Hannity and Levin (National Republican Radio) to Infomercial Guy(!) to Nighttime wasteland. Talk about a Menagerie of Patchwork!

Promotion - What promotion? There is none! Hannity is a star that pulls boffo ratings in many markets and he doesn't even get a billboard of support here. Likewise, Levin is well-regarded on the east coast, but an almost unknown commodity in this market. Either promote him or get someone local.

Dodgers - (This hurts me to say cause I'm a huge baseball fan) - Team listening is a fraction of what it was when KABC first had the Dodgers because all of the games are on TV, and often times are Tivo'd if not watched live. The need for radio broadcasts in general is greatly reduced, but the real problem here is that KABC has nothing to offer Dodger fans to stick around for even if they do later sample the station. Is anyone going to sample Scarborough after the game is over when he can't even draw a ratings pulse on TV? Not to mention that baseball is the most intrusive sport for a non-sports station to carry because in baseball games are played nearly every day. Levin will be lucky to get two segments in edgewise on east coast trips. Oh, and by the way, Dodger team owners are in the middle of a messy divorce. History tells us that fighting owners always = losing team. In short KABC's relationship with the Dodgers = all the cost and prestige of Dodger Baseball (such as it is) with nearly none of the benefit. Good luck with that!

Lastly, and most importantly, station has no pulse. No one tunes into KABC as must listen to radio because unlike KFI, they have few personalities with attitude to make anyone tune in. Who cares what Tilden thinks besides grandma (and maybe not even her!) They are the opposite of Handel and John and Ken.

Summary: Current KABC management makes the Drew Hayes regime look good, and that ain't easy! By the way, did I mention they're a Citadel station? Nuff said.

^^Maybe KABC doesn't care about what they air after 12pm because the long Dodgers schedule?

I don't think KDAY's small boost isn't affecting KPWR in any way. However, KPWR is more concerned with KAMP, KIIS, and KXOL, which might explain Power 106's slip in the ratings. And with more Rhythmics running away from Hip-Hop to take the Pop-flavored route, one might have to wonder if KPWR will make that move. At this rate, I don't see them living with "Hip-Hop" for much longer.

Power has already moved in a pop oriented direction, adding songs from Lady Gaga, David Guetta, and Kesha that they wouldn't have played a few years ago when they were more strictly rhythmic. The only effect I've noticed is that they sound even more like KIIS and KAMP, so I personally have less incentive for listening, but its probably a better market strategy.

Can someone explain this to me? Why is it that KSSE has lower cume than KXOS and KDAY, yet, it's ranked in % higher?

KSSE-FM 1.6 1,084,900 1.5 982,900 1.7 946,000
KXOS-FM 2.0 1,205,400 1.6 1,050,500 1.3 989,400
KDAY-FM 1.1 877,000 1.2 990,800 1.4 1,064,600

Where's KSFV? I thought that was a religious station. It says it's Spanish Talk and that it's owned by Entravision.

KSFV-FM 0.1 82,700 0.2 88,200 0.2 91,600 Spanish Talk Entravision

That means their TSL is just longer. People listen to KSSE longer than KXOS and KDAY (which is actually doing great for their signal capacities)

Finally... KDAY beats KPWR in the ratings in the Inland Empire. KDAY picking more listeners in L.A., given the fact that their signal isn't that strong in L.A. People tuning into hip-hop classics.

KDAY has a MUCH stronger signal in Riverside because of the 5,000 watts at the top of Rancho.
