Does 710 espn not subscribe to ratings anymore? In the last book, it was just a “-” next to their station listed in the ratings. Now I don’t see anything

It seems the past several years when Iheart decides to take the plunge and challenge someone they win. Look at Amp 97.1 gone. Power 106 real 92.3 beating them handily and Alt 98.7 is been beating Kroq for awhile now. I think having the decline of Kevin and bean contributed to that and the success of the woody show.

Audacy should be thankful they got rid of Mike Kaplan and got Kevin weatherly back. He seems to be righting the ship but it can take a hot minute.

I see KIIS made a jump last month and this month. Hopefully the experts can comment on what is causing this. I don't see anything in the last two months making a lot of noise at CHR. The Taylor Swift and Harry Styles songs have been played for longer than that. Maybe they are playing the older songs that most of their audience likes?

Iheart has to be careful about playing older songs on KIIS. Because the also own Hot AC station KBIG
Not really. I have seen co-owned stations that play over 50% of the same songs that don't pirate each other. It is all about what each plays that the other does not and the frequency at which they are played as well as the overall tone of the station.

This begs the question... Could CHR eventually disappear?
People were asking this question every few years from the 80's well into the 90's. The format is cyclical, just as mass appeal music is cyclical.

This might not be the right time to ask if Top 40 Radio will be around in the long run. Here we see KIIS at #1 18-34 and #2 18-49. If that's a losing format, I'm not sure what a winning one is.

Maybe so, but there weren't the challenges that there are now, namely technology and a schinking audience.
"Shrinking Audience" is relative to radio time spent listening, but not anywhere as significantly important in regards to cume.

In any case, this subject is about a music genre, not just radio. And whether it is streamed or listened to over the air, the format or genre has issues right now. And they are not just radio issues.

But the number of people listening to the average quarter hour of KIIS today is about 25% of what it was two decades ago.

It seems like everything started to go downhill gradually with power 106 was when big boy left. But seem to stabilize with Nick Cannon. Now that went downhill ahile back and here we are😭😭😭.

But I am sure many more factors then that. But isn't the foundation to a strong station a good morning show? Time will tell...

I agree Power 106 hasn’t been the same without Big Boy because he was a fixture on the station and he was on every billboard around LA during the late 90’s.
