L.A.'s Nightlight Station

Doctah said:
Anyone know which station will broadcast the "nightlight" message in analog after Friday's transition?

According to fcc.gov the following stations are staying on.

KCBS-TV 2 will remain on till July 12 2009 while KNBC 4, KTLA 5 and KWHY-TV 22 till June 26 2009 (LA's last and final analog shutdown). ;D

Wow, KCBS will be the last analog standing. :) And I was hoping it would be KTLA as they were the first. Oh well, I guess it's :p to Paramount five. :D

P.S.: I played the tape from 29 October 1998 when KTLA turned DT-31 on. $5500 for a 52" TV isn't bad, but $1500 for a set-top box? :mad:
That's why I didn't get mine till 2004. ::)

What time does L.A. shut-off? Houston's TV stations shut off an hour ago.

I think the nightlight stations were chosen to be on channels that are useless to digital but not analog (Low VHF Ch. 2-6). KPRC-TV is in the same situation. BTW W6XAO (KCBS-TV) was one of the first TV stations in the world and the first to serve Los Angeles.

KCBS is airing the standard NAB video 24/7 for SIX more days now with no IDs except for sponsor ads every hour or so.

KNBC aired the standard NAB video 24/7 until Jun. 26 with no IDs except for occasional promos for news.

KTLA aired the standard NAB video 24/7 with IDs on the screen.
