For CBS 2 and ABC 7, no news is good news. That is news about program changes because they don't have any for the fall of 07. Everything is staying right where it is. In fact, the current CBS 2 daytime lineup is their most sucessful in years, with nary a weak link in the bunch. Even the local audiance numbers for the CBS soaps are holding their own against mighty ABC.
NBC 4 is hoping to chip away at their still two main rivals with an almost totally revamped line-up. Starting with the either much-looked forward to or much-dreaded 4-hour Today Show, followed by the Mid-Day News hour at 11am. I-Village remains at the noon hour slot, as does NBC's now lone soap Days of our Lives at 1pm. Martha is replacing Passions and the new Merv Griffin's Crosswords will replace YourLA (which is either being outright cancelled, or will become web-only content), and the dated Access Hollywood re-broadcast. Ellen will continute to do battle with Dr. Phil at 4pm.
The rebuilding of Orange County based KDOC by Bert Ellis and Co. rolls on. Of course, the big news over there is the partnership with the OC register newspaper, and the launch of the 2-hour live Daybreak OC morning show weekdays from 6-8am. The two-hour faith-based block of programming (700 Club etc...) that currently occupies that time slot moves down to 8-10am. And Season 2 of KDOC's "Endless Classics" once again sees some shows dropped, some returning, and a few high-profile TV classics making their debut on the station.
Going on the shelf: Little House on the Praire, In the Heat of the Night, Mangnum P.I., Becker, The Honeymooners, Night Gallery, and Ellery Queen.
Coming off the shelf: Mission:Impossible
New to KDOC: The Andy Griffin Show, Fraiser, and Get Smart.
Get Smart arrives on Labor Day with a 3-hour marathon from 8-11pm and will be seen M-F at 10:30pm.
Anaheim Ducks Hockey will return, but High School Football and Friday Night Favorites will not.
The Saturday Night "Monster Movie" will continute to draw from the classic Universal 30's and 40's horror titles, and well as a few cheese fests from Columbia courtesy of one William Castle.
Finally, the "Sunday Cinema" is picking up a new barter-syndicated A-List 07-08 movie package from Sony including The Last Action Hero and Philadelphia
The new KDOC Line-up (effective Sept. 10) breaks down like so:
