L&L BROADCASTING TO PURCHASE YMF MEDIA, LLC JACKSON STATIONS

L&L Broadcasting of Portland, OR announced that it's entered into a definitive agreement to purchase six radio stations in Jackson, MS owned by YMF Media, LLC. The stations are WKXI-FM, WJMI-FM, WRKS-FM, WJNT-AM, WOAD-AM, and WJQS-AM.

Larry Wilson, Chairman of Alpha Broadcasting and L&L Broadcasting, both located in Portland, will add the Jackson cluster to the 24 stations currently under the L&L Broadcasting umbrella, bringing L&L's total to 30. On July 1, L&L sold six stations that it acquired from Triad Broadcasting in May.

Commenting on the new acquisition, Wilson said, "The YMF Media cluster in Jackson will be a great addition to our Mississippi footprint. As the state capital, Jackson is an energetic and thriving city with endless opportunities for growth. We're excited to bring these heritage stations into the L&L family."

The six station deal will give L&L entry into a second Mississippi market adding to its previously acquired Biloxi stations.

The deal will leave YMF with just its stations in Columbia SC and New York City once the Jackson stations sale and sale of two AM’s in the San Francisco area closes.

I was doing some research on L&L and their name means "live and local". Does this mean that there will be more live and local broadcasts? 99 Jams is pretty much live except for overnights, maybe.
