La Calle now on 102.5

And I hearing LA LEY also on 102.5 assuming I’m listening to K273AL
There was strong DX action going on last night. You may be witnessing the continuation of that tonight. Are you sure you're not catching XHRR-FM 102.5 out of the Mexican/American border? They're a Mexican station serving the McAllen-Brownsville, TX area with the "La Ley" brand.

93.1, 101.5, 102.5, and 107.1 out of the Reynosa-Rio Bravo, Tamps. area have been known to make it to some parts of Houston under the right conditions.

No I’m not sure but I was able to listen to LA LEY again this morning. Imma drive close to Humble later on and will tune in to see if it’s Really the translator or just DX.

If it's actually the translator, we may see SBS have to debut a WHOLE new branding in Houston

It is rather amusing to consider that SBS, after dragging its feet for an entire year on closing the KROI purchase, would have the La Ley branding co-opted by some local programmer. Of course that assumes they were planning on using that moniker on 92.1.

Would SBS have any legal recourse here?

I don't know if La Ley was one of the domains registered as I'm currently not a RadioInsight subscriber, but if it was, SBS could say that the translator's owners have seen the domains registered and chose the branding for 102.5 to stop them from using it. I'm no lawyer, however, I doubt SBS has any grounds for a lawsuit.

it is very hard to confirm if it is the translator or not. I am on beltway eight and Westlake Houston Parkway and I am hearing LA LEY Battle wait KMAZ Here. But it is indeed broadcasting from the valley. So I do not know if it is just repeating the station somehow.

XHRR-FM streams, so that would be a way to compare. Website: HOME - La Ley 102.5 FM

Warm, muggy weather the past few days, which may cause tropo to kick up. Midweek cooldown will likely eliminate those conditions.

XHRR is oddly missing from the Radio-locator database. Wikipedia has it as 100kw @ 480 feet. Don’t focus on antenna height, as tropo often favors “shorter” signals.

Can’t check directly OTA where I am due to KJFI.

radio locator is incredibly out of date and incorrect for anything outside the US

So I was in HUMBLE TX where K273AL is supposed to be on air. I heard a very weak LA CALLE programming and a very strong DX coming from BEAUMONT.
MAGIC 102.5 FM.

So I couldn’t tell if LA CALLE was actually the translator or if it was KJFI

Nothing huge but La Mejor 102.5 updated their facebook profile page to say LA GRANDE 104.5.

Most likely to send the few listeners they had to La Grande

Mexico's IFT lists XHRR at 147.6m, or 484 feet.

Sidebar: unlike the U.S. with very specific cities of license, Mexico uses "principal community to be served". Stations are expected to serve their coverage area, not the very specific towns and communities the FCC prefers.
