La Gran D 101.9

As you've probably heard, KKCS-FM was sold to Bustos Media today and immediately flipped to their nationally-known Regional Mexican format. The KKCS format continues on 104.5.

With that done, and 102.1 apparently not sold with it, I wonder what is to become of this frequency. The move of KCUV 102.3 essentially rendered it useless over Denver. If you had 102.1, what would you do with it?

What I would do with 102.1 if I had it is I would continue with the country format but it would be old and new country.

Also, I have a question do you know what time the new format on 101.9 started today?
Edited by Chase11 on 12/03/05 06:24 AM.

I don't know... I turned the radio on tonight around 7:00 and they had made the change. I'd guess earlier than that though.

Can anyone pick 102.1 up or is it completely off the air?
______________

Start superserving Estes Park, Loveland, Ft. Collins.

Not sure how the signal is in Loveland, Ft. Collins - though both
aapparently are within primary signal's predicted 60dbu contour...might
require a booster...

FCC Coverage Map

Not sure what format holes really exist up there...its all pretty much over-radio'd. Whatever you do, its going to be a tough go, especially competing with Regent, Clear Channel - and all the Denver spill-in.

Maybe just do time-brokered programming...let people pay by the hour - do their own shows and sell their own advertising.

What's sad is I've sat in their parking lot in Estes Park and had a fuzzy signal. I agree with the brokering it. It will be very hard to do anything realistic with this frequency.

I wonder if there's a way to do a frequency shuffle and fire KXDC up on a less-cluttered channel. There might, with a little trickery, be a way to get it on the air at 93.7 or 106.3.
______________

We just got one of those in September when NextMedia flipped Country WEXT 104.7 Sturtevant, WI to La Gran D. Bustos just recently agreed to buy the station. Seems like Bustos is on a buying spree these days.
______________

I'm thinking either 98.1 or 98.9 (Alternatively 99.1 or 99.9)

Or better yet - 100.7

Just my opinion :)

Cheers for now & Happy Holidays :)

Besides, isn't there a religious station on that frequency?
