If they put a dance station there they should make it ktu but isn't there and old school radio station called 93.5 kday maybe la not cut out for a dance station

la is not dance

KDAY is doing fine where it is. Dance was tried here on 103.1 years ago and its gone. Most compianes dont wanna take the risk with the format. Its all about the money. What works in other markets wont work everywhere. HD2 radio or Tune Inn if you have a smartphone is your best freind when it comes to Dance music.
if they ever start with a dance make rythmic dance station not a pure dance station like a party station
when did a dance station hit the highway 99 and 98 radio it sounds pretty good I used too listen too that station going toward los angelos now I don't do that anymore
by the way that highway station station sounds much better then that other station that was there I wonder how long it will last

The reception gets spotty after Victorville and completely fades out after the Cajon Pass, no where near the LA suburbs
just forgot what I said about los angeles they can put any kind of dance station there they always seem too have a pure dance somewhere first it was la then it was phonix and miami and san francisco amd now somewhere south of las vegas I don't know what else to say

I don't know how 97.1 Amp Radio sounds but if it's anything like 92.3 Now here in NYC, than it is dance friendly. Granted, they are both CHRs but at least in the case of 92.3 Now, they are taking chances playing dance music.
Granted, I LOVED Groove Radio and Mars Radio but they weren't bringing in the bucks. Even though there ARE pure dance fans in L.A., it wasn't enough when it came down to the bills. What I DO think is that if a station had a 70% lean on dance but still continued to play the rhythmic material (such as Akon, Rihanna, etc.) then it can work. And on that, the dance music being played has to have the commercial appeal....it can't go ultra progressive and underground. We're not the UK in that sense.
We have to get more people into our product in order for dance music to grow. As long as you get more people and more demand, that's the only way the advertisers will take notice.

Regarding Dance on Top 40 radio, the dance genre was huge in this country in the 70s with Disco.
Then in the second half of the 80s and early 90s it saw a resurgence at Top 40 with acts such as La Bousche, Fun Factory, Max-a-Million, Captain Hollywood Project, etc.
Now 20 years after its last resurgance it is strong again with artists such as Guetta, Solveig, Vission, Edward Maya, Cobra Starship, Afrojack, Alexandra Stan and more getting play at Top 40 on various stations around the U.S. over the last couple of years.
Lets hope Dance stays on as a permanent fixture at CHR radio from now on; it balances well with hip-hop, pop and rock.

A couple of things I thought would NEVER happen.....
1) MTV doing a show with dance music videos (Clubland)
2) A group such as Cobra Starship live at the Macy's in Herald Square (NYC - Fri. Sep. 23rd)
3) Big name DJ's performing at concert halls and casinos (Deadmau5 at the Borgata in A.C.)
4) Big festivals (Electric Daisy, Electric Zoo, Ultra)
I'm in agreement about dance staying in CHR. And if a strong dance leaning station should ever happen, CHR should STILL stay with dance because it does sell. Just as we're hopeful about things in NY, keep being hopeful in LA. But to that we have to prove to corporate about sales. Begging about Wynter Gordon, Afrojack, Alexandra Stan is not enough. Corporate needs to see the face of the dance fan in order to get the advertisers on board.
