I guess The Sound's music direction is working for them. Any idea where the new listeners came from (IOW what station(s) did they abandon or decrease listening time)?

KLOS is still flat....

HEY JILL-FM doubled their share!! :D

Jill's ratings always go from 0.2 to 0.1 to 0.2 again. Maybe they'll stay there because of all the advertising on the streets of OC?

That is where my thought went to immediately as well when I looked at the numbers. The Sound is on a nice upward track, but that doesn't seem to come at a cost to the other classic rockers (including Jack), oldies or even active rockers. Since the cume is more or less the same from last month, it seems like it has got to be an increase in TSL that accounts for the uptick. To me that seems like a very mixed blessing. It is nice to get the ratings bump because people are listening for longer periods of time, but if you are not increasing the listener base, the ratings can only go one way from here - down, as the same amount of listeners are not likely to increase their TSL significantly again, but could easily decrease it as they tune out to sample others.

On the programming side of things, congratulations for REALLY tightening up the playlist over the last few months such that I can hear the same songs during the same time periods multiple times during the week. I guess what forces me to other outlets attracts a lot of others to the station Arrgghh! Andy: "Coming up, another really great timeless track from U2!" Reaction: "Great, haven't heard them in at least a few hours now, thanks for remembering to get them on again. Let me get my request for another Police tune in while you're at it."

Also noted what seems to be an odd decrease for KFI considering the amount of political discourse over the last few months which should be a boon for KFI. Perhaps old businesmen don't listen to KFI when they go on summer vacation?

Frankly, I haven't seen any JILL ads outside of a billboard on the back of a bus (OCTA) on the 5 freeway. Diva on the Dial indeed!! How 'bout you?

I have! I see them all the time! But I don't know if anyone else from the O.C. has noticed that there's AMP Radio advertisements on about 1/4 of the buses. It seems like they're trying to improve their #18 in the OC PPM.

Look at some other items on the ratings
1. KFWB - That is why they 'HAD' to do something. Beaten in the ratings by KPCC.
2. KKGO - Really suprising in LA considering the old 93.9 numbers
3. KJZZ - Beats KDAY
4. KUSC - Still consistently number 21 - and the listeners pay for it besides.
5. KRTH - Makes me wonder what a real oldies format would do.

KRTH has not done so extremely well for nearly two decades... and were it to revert to 60's oldies, it would both decline and lose the sales demo success it is now having.

Before it became classic hits, it was not even near the top 10 in sales demo 25-54... generally around 14th or 15th. Now it has been in the 7th to 9th range in those demos... a definite improvement, and as intended.
