On August 18, KDAY/LA will become "93.5, The Beat of L.A.", Los Angeles' newest Urban A/C station. No more Hip Hop music and No more K-DAY reference and No more Local Line up. The new line-up will consist of all syndicated programming. Steve Harvey 6-10 am, Wendy Williams 10am-1pm, Mo'Nique 1pm-4pm,Micheal Baisden 4pm-8pm, and Theo 8pm-12 midnight.

Believe me, that crap is not going to work, and this is why:

1. This station is in a hispanic market who is not feeling what they are doing
2. The station is basically all syndicated? Dumb idea...
3. Signal is nothing to write home about as it is.
4. The calls KDAY is associated with hip hop in L.A.. How are you just going to kill all that?

Magic, you might want to start thinking of what variation of hispanic programming you will be flipping to....

Actually, doesn't sound too different from what they are doing currently.

they will not be using kday but the "beat "and 2 they are getting a major signal upgrade. one problem wendy is hip hop

Moving a class A a few miles is not a major upgrade. The station will have coverage virtually equvalent to KJLH with the upgrade, but nothing at all like a Mt. Wilson signal. The 64 dbu signal goes from covering 3.45 million to 3.7 million... hardly major.

so david why go after kjlh with the same signal when kjlh does not have any numbers?
Maybe Power 106 is to powerful, But I cant see 3 Urban A/C doing well in L.A. ( I predict KDAY will Flip within a year ).

Yep very smart move LOL ::) Wendy and Monquie no longer do radio anymore thank god. TV is right where they fit even though I dont watch neither of them. Magic no longer owns the station and its in the hands that know LA's market quite well.

KDAY has became a house hold name. R.I.P. KKBT 92.3 The Beat. Thanks For 15 years of great Hip Hop & R&B. No one can replace The Beat. I'm trying to move away from Radio. Why listen to the radio for a hit when we have our iPhone,CD's and so on. I listen to my iPhone for my back in the day Hip Hop/R&B fix. What do you listen to?

i believe kday mixes are pre recorded on c.d. they did the same thing in reno n.v on 97.3 kwnz pre recorded hot mixes. not any live djs mixing in the studio. it cheaper to play mixes on cd.s then to hire live mixers dj's.

Your right because they repeat the same remixes all weekend which is fine. Gives you a break from KPWR. Kinda like the good old day KPWR and KKBT going at it

Whenever I'm in the car on a Saturday I turn to KDAY to listen to the throwback mixes. My car radio during the week is usually on KJLH or Power 106.
