LA opinion of Vegas Radio needed

What do you LA people think of Vegas radio...I know you get up here from time to time..and some of the stations are streamed on the net or you can hear them at night...FM or Am what do you think?

I used to listen to KOST 103.5 during the mornings - then they let Kim go and I can't listen to Mark by himself. It's just not the same. I listen occassionally to KRTH 101 - but mostly on the weekends when Charlie Tuna is on. I read about the Vegas station KJUL which plays the standards and I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I stream it at work and will start to do it at home on the weekend.

Maybe I am just getting old - but it seems to me like LA radio is just the same stuff over and over again and now that my favorite DJ's are gone - I just have no interest anymore.. kind of sad. I grew up listening to KHJ and KIIS and radio has just changed so much that I just mainly go to the internet.

Las Vegas radio has always struck me funny. The rimshot at 100.1 has lousy fidelity. The Highway Stations can be picked up on the southern part of town. KDWN has always been small town'ish, and even now since being sold KDWN still is not that impressive. KXNT swings between a good large market N/T, and then stumbles. Mix 94.1 is quite strong. The Point was a good AAA, but now is a boring classic hits station. I used to enjoy 103.5 when it was new rock. 101.9 was once an excellent Country station. KJUL at 104.3 was terrific, but the current KJUL is on a Class A signal. KOMP has always felt like a tired rocker. Glad to see 96.3 go classic hits (oldies). Will be sad to see 1460 KENO go spanish.

Actually, KOMP used to be a mainstream rock station; but for the last several years has been active rock. Not tired at all. And the programming on KENO 1460 is simply moving down the dial to a stronger stick on 920 AM. Nothing is going away. And the programming on 920 AM is moving to the new (and stronger) signal of 1100 AM.

So on March 3rd, here is the lineup for sports radio in Las Vegas:

KWWN: ESPN Radio 1100
KBAD: Fox Sportsradio 920
KENO: ESPN Deportes 1460

As for KOMP, here is a sample hour:

Green Day - Basket Case
AC/DC - Hells Bells
Alter Bridge - Rise Today
Godsmack - Awake
Hurt - Ten Ton Brick
Stone Sour - Through Glass
Avenged Sevenfold - Almost Easy
Filter - Hey Man Nice Shot
Judas Priest - You've Got Another Thing Coming

I don't think that sounds like "a tired rocker". In fact, most of my friends in LA wish that they had a station like KOMP to listen to.
