La Preciosa

Saw XOCL got a huge bump this book - but didn't flip until 9/1. Anyone know how they looked for the last two weeks and if that caused a spike?

Also, would Univision consider another format for 102.9? David mentioned Reggaeton may not be for SD - and I wonder now with "La Preciosa" if that would rule out "Recuerdo" as well - although I'd love to see the two battle it out in the same market.

XOCL's jump in the ratings happened in Phase 2 of the Summer Book just before KOOL 99.3 was replaced by La Preciosa. Can't speak for La Preciosa's numbers but KOOL 99.3 was on the way up as it was shoved out the format door. It just proves that Oldies does work in San Diego if given a decent signal and a budget to promote and market the station.

I tend to agree with you that Oldies could work well. There are several FM stations in San Diego either north or south of the border - that would be able to really own a nice position if properly marketed.

It seems as if there are some formats where San Diego is two deep... I still believe in finding your own niche and owning it - even if it's heavy 35-64...

You don't have to look any farther than WRQQ/Nashville that blew up under a 2 share Hot AC when Jack came on the Oldies station and now sits top 5 12+ - and I would venture to guess - decent 25-54 numbers.

I agree, and I hope you get a chance to do it again Philip!
