LA Ratings -

Spanish dominance continues...Interesting to see three local spanish stations tie for third place, wow. I remember reading here that the KLAX surge in success would be short lived and it's morning show with Renan would collapse, none of that has come to pass as this book clearly shows.

KROQ's slide has been referred here by a poster as a wobble, really? The worst 12+ book for KROQ in years. What wobble? Statisically, JACK has hurt them, expected, and yea it's still in the family, but did Infinity need more males in it's ad portfolio? You would think (No brainer) that the company would have gone for a female drived format to size up it's demo's.

JACK was a better fit for Clear Channel in this market. So Infinity built a solid new station (for the time being) on an audience it already served on it's other properties...that's success?

JACK will be a flash in the pan. What then? Bottom line..Jack success = KRTH/KROQ drop and the rest from KLSX/KFI. KLOS benefitted nill from the Arrow dismise.

Entravision looks not yet to be hurt from Latino as it trended up and finished the book up. It's english only format Indie cracked a 1 share, bravo. It's niche station is proving to serve it's niche and doing it well I might add.

I agree with your point that so far Jack has redistributed the Infinity shares and did not hurt Clear Channel in any way. While I am not surprised at all that Jack took a half a share away from KROQ, I am surprised that Jack hurt KRTH. How is this possible considering Jack plays so little K-Earth era music?

I don't suppose anyone will listen if David E. or myself point out that Indie's ratings are still within the same wobble spread ...

I noticed KPWR's second place showing have somewhat slipped, but at least KIIS-FM didn't siphon off their listeners this time. But if KXOL starts becoming a bigger player by the Summer book that could all change.

Another surprise is KKBT moving back into the top 10, so it looks like they're not missing Steve Harvey at all.

As for KBIG, well, let's hope the changes they made will translate into better numbers by the Summer book.

We must be in the presence of greatness- you have the ability to predict Jack's future.

Bravo, bravo! <LMAO>

LA-Jack-KRTH

Curiosity- not necessarily cause-and-effect with cume flying all over the place.

I am surprised too. Jack doesn't play that many songs that KRTH would play.

So you are starting a thread you will later close.

Let me point out that Indie continues to wobble upward, and Kroq continues to wobble downward.

I'm not sure anybody other than "consultants" would really care to know.

Power, KIIS and KSSE all lost teens big time in June. KXOL is #3 in teens in June.

And, April was the fluke high month, May was down and June was down even more... below the Winter average.

This is and will be a station that wobbles between 0.6 and 1.3 or even, maybe, an occasional 1.4 in a non/weighted trend, with an average of about a 0.8 or 0.9.

Maybe, just maybe, potential advertisers. Wobble is why many agencies buy on 2, 3 and even 4 book averages.

In truth, Indie wobbled down, down and downer in the three individual months. In June, it was 30% below a one share.

It's not about song overlap but demo overlap. Many 35-54 listeners "settled" for KRTH when it was not what they wanted. The music was too old, and the style too dated. Jack came, and they left. Jack is a better mix for 35-54 than KRTH.

Now that's a shock! It looks like KXOL made the right move at the right time by going Hurban after all.

Why would anyone be surprised? We've been posting about it here for many weeks. Statements were made by Infinity execs that one of the reasons they blew-up their oldies stations in New York and Chicago was because of the initial results and their own research about what Jack/Los Angeles was doing to K-Earth.

The funniest thing about Jack/Los Angeles is the only thing it has really done has shifted the fortunes from other Infinity stations to that Infinity station. What have they really gained in the marketplace as a cluster?

K-Earth will continue to slide until they blow it up. And who will be the only survivor??? Hollywood Hamilton...there are bigger things in store for him there...believe it or not.

KBIG has already written off the summer book. Look for the fall book. And these changes aren't good enough to do anything for them then either.

Well, this must have been KRTH's worst book EVER! I don't know much about the LA market, but they got way below a 1. Horrible! KRTH is currently going through a slow painful death.

KRTH got way over a 2 and not as high as a 3 (and it is bigger than a breadbox and smaller than a house, too), not below a 1.

Interestingly, the Spanish "Jack" and the English "Jack" both beat them...
