LA stations in Hi-Def

I noticed that some channels such as CBS and NBC show as 1020i while FOX and ABC show as 720p on my TV. Are the major LA channels broadcasting at different resolutions?

Also, I noticed that KTLA is strected out a little more when in letterbox mode than the other channels.

Hi,

The FCC approved 18 different formats for digital broadcasting. Some stations broadcasrt several depending on the sub-channel (See channel 7). Most popular are
480i - Digitized analog
480p
720p - Fox mostly
1080i - CBS, NBC, KCET DT (not the digitizaed analog)
