LA Times Streaming

This caught my attention: The LA Times has set up its own streaming news service. It's under LA Times Studios:

As I've been saying, anyone can get into the news business. You don't need a license, a diploma, or permission. Just do it. If you own a brand, use it. The brand gives you credibility. Is there a revenue stream? I guess we'll all find out. What we know is that subscriptions to print newspapers aren't increasing. So this may be the only future.

Hope Dr. Soon-Shiong has plenty of money left to fund this. The newspaper itself lost a significant percentage of their subscriber base after he vetoed an endorsement in the Presidential race, and I half-expect it to go the way of the Herald-Examiner by the 40th anniversary of that sad event.
