LA36 Signing Off At Midnight October 1

The cable channel LA36 is signing off for good at midnight on October 1. I found this out from reading my Time Warner Cable on-screen guide's listings for this channel. Instead of whatever the channel was showing, the guide said "Sign Off" and in the area where the program synopsis/episode summary normally appears, it showed the information that I am relaying to you. The reason? "The City of Los Angeles have rescinded there (sic) agreement to provide our operating grant." (It didn't say why the reason for this move by the City of Los Angeles.)

My old college broadcasting class professor used to work at LA36, and our class took a trip to their old studio (right across the street from the old Ambassador Hotel) for a class project. We get it in Inglewood on Time Warner, although its not listed in the channel lineup...of course, the TWC South Los Angeles office/store also serves Inglewood.

Somewhat related, I noticed that the County of Los Angeles now has their own access channel. I'm not sure what channel it's on via the cable box, but through QAM, it's channel 71-3. I know it's somewhere surrounded by LiveWell HD, KCET Orange, and KCET World (the latter two just added within the last week).
