Labor Day Special - and it's better than what's on 98.1

For folks in upper Montco and upper Bucks, WAEB AM 790 in Allentown has given up it's news/talk for the day and is playing '50s thru 70s Top 40.

That's a great idea. My guess is not many people tune in to news/talk for their backyard cookouts. This brings up an interesting question, on the weekends which would pull in a larger audience on a News/Talk AM station, their normal news/talk satellite programming (on weekends it's going to be mostly from the bird) or going Oldies from the bird? Then back to their regular programming on Monday.

Granted AM and FM are obviously different but if a true "balance" can be made utilizing both I think 101.5 would be an ideal model to atleast examine if not follow. Not everything appeals to everyone of course but there are the programs that I know are there should I not find anything else on the dial to spark my interest. The fact that they "play the hits" on the weekends is another factor thats make them an enticing choice 7 days a week...

Congrats to CC for stepping outside the box even if its for 24 hours. After the demise of 1470 WKAP it must be nice to hear the hits in the Allentown area again for the day, on the AM Band!

That is what New Jersey 101.5 has done for seventeen years plus. Talk during the week, and music on the weekends (and holidays). I am surprised that more radio stations don't follow the same concept.

or go to www.waeb.com and click oldies online.that would be great if 790 went oldies on weekends.bring back dick bartley's rock and roll's greatest hits on saturday nights.as for 101.5....i don't listen to that since don tandler left! it's almost a year that we lost oldies 1470 WKAP.a big mistake was WYHM in it's place! ouch.....
