I loved Majic when it hit the air in 1998 as a "jammin oldies" format. It didn't do so well, I think the format, which was best described as "interracial oldies", consisted mostly of 60s and 70s Motown. If they added 80s and even some 90s, I would never spin the dial. I can listen to the O'jays, Curtis Mayfield, Aretha, Ray Parker Jr, Champaigne, Niecy Williams, etc for HOURS and never get tired of it.
But Majic and Kiss play too much newer stuff for me. I know I am far from their target demo, being a suburban white dude, 37- but I love that music. It was REAL, it was TALENT. It was when people really wrote and sang from their soul and not for money or to be the next American Idol.
Glad I have so much of this stuff in my collection, because you will NEVER hear it on commercial radio in this market again, despite being such an "urban" radio market.
