Lackluster in Fort Smith

Has anyone else noticed how lackluster Clear Channel Fort Smith has become? B98 is the most boring station to listen to. Whoever does their imaging may as well leave it dry. It doesn't even sound exciting enough to be on an AC station. You would think that they would figure out by now that it's worth it to spend a little extra $ and order their sweepers pre-produced.
The talent is another thing that could use some work. Jon & Jen is one of the worst morning programs I've heard in quite some time. I think in their minds they are cutting-edge and really pushing the envelope, but it's just the same 'ol thing, day after day. I'm suprised they don't read birthdays anymore! They'd be better off bringing a syndicated Kidd Kraddick or something in. That Ted Chase that does mid-days sounds like he's about to fall asleep half of the time. He has absolutley NO personality at all and has nothing even remotley worth while to talk about, too. Every break I heard the other day from him, it was exactly the same thing: That Was, 60 minutes commercial free, here is, on B98.

What's funny is that everything that comes in a can from Fayetteville (except Jon & Jen) is the best thing that they've got going for them.

Now I'm not saying that Kisser is any better than them. Don't even get me started about them.

Big Dog: The syndicated programs are great. Why in the world they replaces Anastasia with this other gal (with the worst southern accent), I'll never figure out!

The Mag: Big D & Bubba: Great! And move Ken Michaels to afternoon drive. You're wasting him during mid-days!

Alright, well that's enough rambling for one session. Had to do something while I sucked down my coffee this morning!

I love this site! I just found it - very interesting!

Looks like Ft Smith is soooo Lackluster that no one wants to talk about it at all! I think overall Ft. Smith radio has been dull for a long...long time.

Yep- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Everyone is so stuck in a pattern. Radio used to be exciting... I think everyone forgets that. And then we wonder why people go for "Pay Radio".

When was the last time this place WAS exciting ?

Well, you know the old saying, don't you?

"Boring radio is what boring radio does."

......or something like that.

Anyway, my question to you people is:

Is it simply a case of Fort Smith radio being boring/dull and nobody can do anything about it?---Or wants to do anything about it, for that matter? You know, like incompetent and/or stingy management-types and what not.

That's too bad. Fort Smith is a nice area, isn't it?

While traveling through Arkansas in 2001, I must admit how disappointed I was in Ft. Smith radio...every station was voicetracked or automated. For the size of market it is, my market (#252) has almost everyone live on the air during the day. My Active Rock station is live 24/7 and we never voicetrack. All of our music is proudly played directly from CD's. No music on a hard drive here. Live DJ's playing each song on CD. The good ol' days are still here for some of us....then again, we're not owned by any of the "evil empires".

:)
