Ladies & germs...Savannah has a rock station again!

Ever since Boomer's arrival at 106.1, the station has undergone an almost compete metamorphisis. The imaging has been updated, the number of sedate spots aimed at Sunny & Big listeners has dropped, giveaways out the rear end, and while they're still trotting out the tired Led Zep & AC/DC tracks, the new rock library has expanded tremendously.

Leslie seems a LOT more loose on air, and I can see Boomer's show evolving into more of interactive show. Hell, Richie Reno throws out some stuff I've never heard before (which is good). And...is Rock LIVE from 11AM through 10PM??!! It sure sounds like it! Now if we can only get them to move to 106.9, Rock would absoulutely dominate SE GA & the SC Lowcountry even more.

I'm real excited about the changes, but I would like to see Rock have more of a Savannah presence, such as sponsoring concerts in Savannah instead of HHI.

I knew of Boomer from when he was in Ohio, never met him though but, he was thought of highly I can tell you that. I was always curious as to what music he and (I think it was CD101) was digging. Although they didn't get great ratings, the students loved that station. Rock 1061 sounds more "hetero", if you know what I mean. lol..Not that there's anything wrong with that. lol...But, the night guy is just flat out awful! I'd rather hear Buzz voice tracked than hear some idiot say "hmmhimmm" to himself all not long. What the hell is that..."hmmmhmmm....hmmmhimmm...he's trying so damn hard to be cool he just come across as a dork. He needs to just be himself, unless of course, he already is being himself. Thank God for Sirius.

My bad. I heard Boomer was from Dayton. I must have him confiused with someone else. Still, I'd rather chainsaw my ears off than listen to the night guy.

Well, now that we've had Rock sponsor an actual bigtime concert (Seether), what can be done by them to bring more of the same caliber acts to Savannah (Savannah, not HHI)? I mean, I guess Rock is in good with Monkey Business, but to bring acts like this to a club in a strip mall isn't really doing much to offer up a quality venue. I'm sure some of the clubs on Congress St. could offer up space for these acts? Being realistic, as Savannah is not a concert-going town, filling up the Civic Center isnt going to happen, but I'd like to see Rock focus more & more on Savannah.

Boomer is apparently real chummy with Seether....I wonder who else he's "close" with?

Good luck with that, G. Anytime I ask anyone why we can't get decent rock acts here I get the same response, "Oh, Savannah's not a concert town." True, we've nothing equal to Philips Arena and nothing ever fills up the Civic Center, but why can't we get bands/singers in an intimate club setting? I like how Triad moved their operations into their space on Mall Boulevard yet they're STILL forsaking us in favor of Hilton Head. I too would like to see Rock 106.1 focus more & more on Savannah. Maybe one day...

I have to say, I'm enjoying it. DeMers must not be the consultant anymore. And from what I've heard from some friends at Clear Channel, their new OM is a very smart programmer and a good guy. Has to be smarter than Groves and more liked than Neumann! lol...Now if they would just pay Buzz enough to make him want to do nights. But, if Clear Channel ever wants to sign on a rock station in Savannah, and takes away Lex and Terry, just like they have done with Rick and Bubba in Huntsville, Rock 1061 would die a quick death.

Can't say that CC would blow up any of their stations in favor of rock...or am I wrong?

And Phil, are you sure YOU'RE not Buzz?

G

No, it's me bro. Not Buzz. I just happen to like the guy. As luck would have it, I usually don't have to listen to Rock 1061 after 7 anyways! I'm actually working for Clear Channel.

To give the guy a break, the night guy is getting better at 106.1. A lot less of the heeemmmm and haaahhhh ing. Not that my opin..will mean anything to you Reno...you are much improved. Congrats man. EVERYBODY thinks they can do it, untiil that mike turns on. Not as easy as they say. Tough being entertaing, funny, cool, angry,etc...and at the same time trying to talk "TO" as many people as possible.
