Lady D Leaving WBMX?

Someone told me that they heard that Lady D was leaving WBMX. I just put it on, and heard her say that if you want to hear me play Madonna after tonight, you'll have to come to my house. So just when it looked like this December was going well compared to past years with layoffs, looks like we have one. Who/what will replace her? Unfortunately my guess is that it'll be the syndicated Billy Bush show.

Maybe she's leaving on her own. You don't usually get to do a "last show" when you get canned.

Heard from an old colleague at CBS that "she was not being renewed". i.e..being let go.

From BostonRadioWatch.com:

Lady D spinning out : One of Boston's most recognizable radio names and voices belongs to veteran on-air jock Lady D. Unfortunately, after four years of working nights(7pm-Midnight) at WBMX-FM/Mix104.1 Lady D will sign off tonight. She started out as an intern under the legendary Sunny Jo White at Kiss 108 back in 1981 and has been heard at WXKS/Kiss 108, WZOU 94.5Fm, Jamn 94-5 and Star 93-7 over the years. No word on her replacement.

she will be missed. I was her intern/producer from 1994-1998 at Jamn. She is legend in this market. I hope that we get to hear her again soon.

We're entering a new decade. This is going to be a turning point for Hot AC, as many stations will scale back on the 80's and drop their "Variety From The '80s, '90s, Now" slogans, focusing on music from the 90's and 00's and the newsest music. They have to be careful how they do this though, or else they will sound too close to CHR.

Will Mix 104.1 be one of the stations to do this?

Sad. One of the best. I grew up with my ear next to a radio at all times in the 80s and early 90s. I hope she goes elsewhere (Oldies 103?)

So, what is going to be on Mix tonight at 7PM?

Ladies D was Great . I used to see her at Vincent Nightclub in Randolph.

9 and Disco Vinny

Don't be surprised if the PD puts his fiance on the payroll.

I'm not sure anyone can replace Lady D but who moves into that show next, I have no clue. It's one of the joy's of no longer being a PD! ::)
